Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight No. 1 contender Chael Sonnen has abandoned his mixed martial arts (MMA) post under the WME-IMG banner and instead opted for greener pastures in Bellator MMA.

More on that surprise signing here.

"The American Gangster" promised to wreck anyone and everyone willing to compete this November. That includes former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz. Unfortunately for Sonnen, "The Huntington Beach Bad Boy" did not share his grand vision.

From Submission Radio:

"Chael calling me out on November 2nd? I'm the one who calls the shots, not him! We'll fight in January. We're not going to fight in November. I'm gonna give him some time to get used to being at his weight, off of steroids, so he can train through that time. November 17th is not happening. I'm calling the shots, not Chael Sonnen. Yeah he talks well, yeah he does his thing, but no, this is my weight class. I'm the one who calls the shots. Tito Ortiz is gonna call the shots."

Ortiz has not competed since his submission loss to Liam McGeary at Bellator 142.

Why do I feel that the only interesting thing about this fight, should it ever happen, will be the pre fight talk?

I don't think Chael's head is in fighting anymore and believe he might get his ass kicked within one round......

What an arse..he knows Chael needs some money..he had hard times...why not play along and make some money himself?

Liked Tito, used to pick him all the time in the gameboy colour UFC fighting game, getting hard to listen to most things about him tbh

No chance in hell Tito wins this fight if it ever happens.

In the last 10 years, Tito has won 3 fights. Ryan Bader, Stephan Bonnar, and Alexander Shlemenko.

One was a shock win, one was a garbage decision and the other was an undersized opponent he out grappled. He doesn't have the KO power to drop Chael, he doesn't have the gas tank to win a decision, and he won't man handle Chael the way he did Shlemenko.

Meh rather see tito fight in japan you can set up some cool freak show fights have him fight a flyweight or gabi garcia.

Looks like Tito might have what Dana White calls an "injured leg" or he's just partying and not currently training for a fight, but I believe him when he says he's the one calling the shots. Patron Platinum, if I had to guess.

According to Chael, he has 10m in the bank. Not sure if he's hurting but if that's true, I don't think he's doing this for the money. It sounds more like he just had the itch to get back into a cage again.
