Just the talking is a little problem.. which is ironic if it is about being a spokesperson.Gsp would be a great spokesman for ALL the fighters...he is savvy as hell..dude has it all...
He seems to be a lot more open and fluent when he's speaking his mind and not being too nice while in the company of the zuffa machine..Reminds me of JCVD lolJust the talking is a little problem.. which is ironic if it is about being a spokesperson.
I think someone like Condit would be good there as well.
I think that I may have interpreted it wrong, and you are indeed correct LOAW. Listening to it again, it appears he is indeed talking about sponsors. I'll edit the OP, so there is no confusion. In the video i thought he said he has a different contract in regards to sponsors so he wouldn't have to wear Reebok in the UFC.
Did he say he could go to another promotion too? I would have thought the champions clause in his contract would prevent that since technically he still is champion.
Not crazy...I just dont see it happening. The news he's making is about his issues with the UFC, which makes me think he's never returningGSP has been in the news a lot lately, am I crazy for hoping for a return?
I'm a really big fan of his, but at this point I don't really want him to come back. As a selfish fan, I do, as someone that wants the best for him, I think he's best to stay away after all this time off.Not crazy...I just dont see it happening. The news he's making is about his issues with the UFC, which makes me think he's never returning![]()
According to the organization he's no longer the title holder, so he could get out on a loophole with that. I doubt he can leave the org anyways though. He might be the only guy without an ironclad fight count, but no length contract, but I wouldn't count on it. Maybe he does though and we can see him fight Nick at Rizin on New Year's.Did he say he could go to another promotion too? I would have thought the champions clause in his contract would prevent that since technically he still is champion.
I would love for gsp to give the ufc a big fuck you by leaving to fight for another org. especially bellator. but with no one else holding ppv, I just don't think they can afford gsp.. the man's asking price has got to be through the roof. no way he is fighting on cable tv.../QUOTE]
i could truly see viacom throwing money at georges. they know the ratings he'd bring.
If they get GSP and perhaps Fedor, they could certainly have a PPV with that.I would love for gsp to give the ufc a big fuck you by leaving to fight for another org. especially bellator. but with no one else holding ppv, I just don't think they can afford gsp.. the man's asking price has got to be through the roof. no way he is fighting on cable tv...
if he isn't the champion anymore, then the champion clause doesn't apply right?
I'm sure zuffa wouldn't mind a ppv or two with gsp's draw, but let's not forget that zuffa claims to have had the best year fianacially this past year. Gsp hasn't fought since 2013 so they're not exactly backed into a corner without him. That being said I'm admittedly gsps number one ball dangler. I'd love to see him back refreshed, but he's got some miles on him.Interesting situation. Its possible he was just saying he doesn't intend to get stiffed by the Reebok deal like the rest of the poor saps in the UFC. If the UFC wants him to fight again they are going to have to compensate him for the loss of sponsorship money. I would be surprised if he fought for any organization than the UFC. But who knows what his contract looks like... It would be awesome if he was able to walk away from Zuffa free and clear.
I was at GSP Koscheck II and my only real memories of the fight are:People want GSP back because he was so dominant and because he was charismatic enough and had the right look to be popular, but his fights were absolutely fucking terrible to watch.
I know I am in the minority when I say this, but I honestly hope he never comes back.
