The number was correct for Italy at the time. Fast forward two months and we now know that those numbers don't apply across all demographics, which we thought they would (at least more so than they have) and in many places the numbers not only didn't get that high, but we also realized that where it got that high was with very specific demographics. Ie, in the area where I am pretty much every Covid death has been someone over 80 and in a retirement/nursing home. And that number was fake?
We have new data, and new information we should be applying it and moving forward as best we can. Instead we're in a holding pattern and anyone who suggests we get out of it is shouted down.
