LAS VEGAS -- UFC president Dana White says "there is no status" on Georges St-Pierre's future, following his recent decision to vacate the UFC's middleweight championship.

St-Pierre, 36, claimed the 185-pound title by submitting Michael Bispingat UFC 217 in early November. It was St-Pierre's first fight since 2013.

The Canadian star vacated the title just 31 days later, citing health reasons. Prior to that announcement, White stated he would be "super pissed" if St-Pierre refused to defend the title, and that he was contractually obligated to do so.

St-Pierre (26-2) still opted to vacate, but remains under UFC contract and is open to fighting again.

At this time, White said there is no update on his next move.

"There is no status," White told ESPN. "I knew what he was doing. That's why I put [a mandatory title defense] into his contract. We both knew what was going on.

"I don't know, man. I don't think the guy wants to fight. I think he jumped in, grabbed some cash and went back to Canada."

I'm torn here.....I agree I'd be super pissed at GSP if I were the guy in charge of the UFC, however, when Dana re-signed GSP they were desperate for a draw, Dana had to know that if GSP beat Bisping he was never going to defend the title. That's my dilemma...Dana has every right to be pissed, but he's the idiot that also should have and probably was very aware this was going to happen afterwards

Love it. Floyd ain’t grappling anyone like a wrestler who couldn’t make it in boxing. Would like Punk to showcase his striking. Gale took the easy way out. You see those countdowns leading up to his fight? The ones that clearly showed his weaknesses for all the world and his opponent to see? Striking looked decent.

I’d enjoy Diaz vs White for numerous reasons. White would probably step out for weight cutting issues then criticize Nate for even signing, but build up would be legendary.

However though, from his point of view I can understand the frustration.

If (if if if...) GSP were to fight Tyron Woodley, win the belt and then piss off again, I bet by that point, Dana would not even get an emptional response, anymore...

Is the UFC losing money because Bisping isn't their 185 camp? My guess is no.

Dana can't realistically be pissed with that at all.

I'm guessing Georges has said that's his next fight "take it or leave it." Connor's jibber jabbered how he'll fight at that weight and knows a fight vs GSP is worth A LOT more than a title fight against the 170 champ. So, this might be Dana's way of keeping GSP in public discussion while they hammer out the agreement to make the Saint-Pierre Mcgregor fight.
