Pharma stock - Back then it was Neoprobe (NEOP), it has since transitioned to Navidea (NAVB).

The pharma community paid a lot of attention to his columns back then, and he wrote a bullshit article about one of Neoprobe's products (I believe it was lymphoseek or something like that - a tumor detecting device) and said how it was garbage, and they would never be able to sell it, and (ironically) how Neoprobe was cooking the books. Anyway, the day before he released the article he shorted the stock. All the lemmings in the pharma community followed suit and the stock tanked. I had about 2000 shares back then. I think the stock was worth about $5. It dipped to the mid $2.50's and they started to struggle financially (couldn't get funding). So Neoprobe became Navidia and they haven't really recovered since. I've averaged down since then. I think I own about 5000 shares now and it's worth all of $0.43 a share today.

But it all started with this fucker. The science is good. The company is good. Eventually I'll make mine.

So I guess I haven't really "lost" any money yet as I haven't cashed out. But it still pisses me off. I've been carrying this anchor for a while. Makes my portfolio look like shit.

I don't blame this guy personally one bit for price gouging, it's how capitalism works, and morally between him and his creator as far as I'm concerned.
It shouldn't be illegal to raise your prices to get the most you can, that's ridiculous.
I don't like it, but he didn't create 'the system', he just seems to be a scapegoat for the entire crooked system.

It reminds me of Bernie Madoff and the parallels to social security, in that the government absolves itself through scapegoats.
What neither are doing is/has done has been "righteous" .
Frankly I'd like to see everyone on trial, because nearly everyone is guilty of something.

Well, you have the freedom to be a piece of shit in America, doesn't mean you should go do it. I'd still think you'd be a piece of shit.

Wow how the mighty have fallen. He was doing FB lives laughing at his court case, assuring everyone he wasn't going to do any time and how his lawyers had everything under control, now he's weeping in court after getting 7 years.

Yeah. The similarities between those two stocks have nearly caused me a few heart attacks.

I go from FUCK YEAH! to "Oh no I suck again" in a matter of seconds.

And now it's 6000 shares.

I treat this stock like bad beats on the 1 pm and 4 pm NFL slots. Triple up on SNF!

I'm pretty libertarian but some things should be regulated and maybe medical drugs is one of them.

It always baffles me how some Americans are proud of their "free market" and laugh at "socialist" Europe, yet they have much higher rates of violent crime and people getting into insurmountable healthcare and education debt.

In certain cases I'd agee, like Shkreli raising a price dramatically on a 62 year old drug. But, the US regulating medical drugs like Europe is the last thing the rest of the world wants. It costs billions to get a new drug to market, what most of the world does is it ignores the costs of research & development, tells the pharmaceutical company that since the physical pill costs 25 cents to manufacture they'll pay 35 cents per pill take it or leave it. Basically, us lucky Americans get to pay the lion's share R & D for any new drugs that makes it to market.
