Does the word 'woke' (as in 'woke as fuck) just mean really aware and lucid about life and stuff? Or does it have political/conspiracy connotations?
I thought the latter but I'm starting to see some examples that make me think I'm getting it wrong

Can't say I'm disappointed though, its a good thread. I admire Jim Carrey, lots of great movies and indeed some wise words in those clips. Someone mentioned 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind' as a gem that fell under the radar, I agree that film was wicked cool. Truman Show is amazing metaphor, Man on the Moon also great I just watched it again a few weeks ago

Yeah well that's what I mean... for me the Matrix/red pill references are all a big metaphor for snapping out of the imposed propaganda/brainwashing. I don't really get how one can separate that concept from a conspiratorial perspective.
This is sort of what 'The Truman Show' was all about, IMO, it would be a stretch I think to imagine that Carrey was not aware of the metaphors
For example can someone be 'woke' if they are thinking for themselves, maybe highly creative and wise etc... but still reads the paper and thinks 9/11 was as the TV news says it was? To me being woke (Matrix/red pill reference) is waking up to some degree of conspiratorial reality, starting to see the lies as they are

It is definitely waking up to the reality that most of what we are told is lies, that they actually research most things they are told (we all make mistakes and don't do due diligence from time to time) and make their own decision based on actual facts
