Khabib has the benefit of being undefeated, which makes it more legitimate to a degree. For example, when Cormier won the title off Johnson, it didn’t look good. He just lost to Jones. Now had Johnson won, who was going on a LHW tear at the time, undefeated at LHW, would make it seem a bit more prestigious.

I think the biggest difference s where these guys were ranked. When Jones got suspended AJ and DC were the clear top guys in the division, maybe Gus too but I cant recall if he was ready. Having one of them as new champ would be argued due Jon not losing but they weren't looking for guys like Pat Cummings.
Thats true. The circumstances of this one at LW was very odd, with Tony dropping out, then Max not being allowed to continue. Getting Pettis or Al wasn’t as appealing.
But having the undefeated fighter as the champ of a division that essentially hasn’t had a champ for over a year, is great for prestige reasons. Next fight should solidify it
Personally in not too hung up on it. I would prefer it if MMA would have all linear champs but the direction they've been going in for a while doesn't help at all. If and when Conor vs Khabib happens it'll be YUGE!
In Conor's own words the win over Aldo should not mean shit. Of course that is a huge win, but rememver when Conor was at FW, he was saying he was beating up a lot of midgets, and these guys are too small. He took a shit on his own big wins. This guy came into the ufc at the LW champ at cage warrriors, dropped to 145, said over and over again how all the 145 ers are midgets, if you beat a bunch of dwarfs, is that special?
Again, let me be clear, Aldo is one of the GOAT's and that is Conor's best win ever, my point is Conor himself spent his entire time at FW shitting on his own comp, bragging how he was beating smaller guys, once he stepped up to guys his own size, look at the difference.
THe guy has 3 fights against people his own size, has a brilliant win over Eddie, a horrible horrible loss against Nate Diaz and a 2nd fight that was the epitome of a draw.
He's basically 1-1-1 at fights above 145 and he could fight Nate another 20 times and you get the feeling he will never finish Nate.
If Conor beats guys like Khabib, Barboza, Ferg, I wll be the first to say this guy is super special, but he needs to do it he has not.

Be better than @conor mcgregor nut hugger , I know you are better than that guy in terms of posting. Sure the judges gave Conor a win, but if you are honest with yourself you will know that fight was really a draw.
Judges scored Hendo the victor in the first Shogun fight, true fans recognize that as a draw. Judges gave Lawler the win over Condit, 18 of 22 media scored it for Condit, if anything it was either a close Condit win or a draw.
You know full well MMA has the worst judges on earth, I mean for God's sake some moron judge gave Felice the win over Karolina last Saturday, I did not even think Felice even got close to winning a single round, maybe the 3rd, and a judge gave her the win.
To most honest observers the Conor is 1-1-1 at above 145 in the UFC< if he beats Khabib, Ferg, shoot even Barboza or Kevin Lee I will start saying how great he is, but he has not.
Let him earn it, all the other greats have.

It's MMA history right under our nose. Every other post is about Conor, the guy just sells, period. I wish Bones had the charisma and mouth of Conor. Would be legendary.

You can only fight who they put in front of you. Conor won the belt and then disrespected every LW and fan in MMA by not defending it, while healthy. As much as he got by winning the title, you cannot hold a belt hostage. You are not worthy of being a champ if you take a belt and do not defend while healthy. Khabib was gonna fight Tony, a lot of people think it better than Conor. Once Tony got hurt, you cannot put that on Khabib, it's actually shocking to say he should be ashmed to hold the belt, fuck no. He should hold the belt has as fuck. Conor should be ashamed for shitting on the meaning of being a champion.
What do they all say? Winning it is huge, but it's defending the belt that is truly what makes a champion worthy. Conor lost all merit, all linear hot air, when he did that.
