Justin Gaethje comes at you at 100 mph and doesn’t let up. But does the top-eight ranked UFC lightweight contender have enough gas in the tank to climb the championship ladder, or has he already accumulated too much mileage over the course of his frenetic career?

Surging lightweight contender Dustin Poirier, who collides with Gaethje in this Saturday’s UFC on FOX 29 main event, believes his opponent is setting himself up for an early retirement if he doesn’t add some strategy to his game.

‘The Diamond’ admires Gaethje’s balls to the wall fighting style but thinks the Arizona native would be wise to switch things up once in a while and adopt a more conservative approach.

“It’s not (a sustainable style), and I…

Watched an interview with Gaethje yesterday and he said he plans to use his wrestling more, or at least the threat of it. We shall see.

I think justin has already stated that his style isnt suited for a nice retirement. But being a savage like that is loved

He is correct. That type of style, once cracked, tends to fold easily.
See Chris Leben, Diego Sanchez, etc.

Gaethje fights like I fuck: exciting, satisfying, and not sustainable.

^^^ I formally request a "T.M.I." rating function ^^^ ;)

I also like the way he fights; never a dull moment, or
lack of effort . About that retirement...ask Jerry Quarry .
If he can still speak (I don't even know if he's still alive,
actually) he'd tell us that it might not be worth it . All
those blows to the head , I mean. But that doesn't seem
to come up much, so I won't belabor the point .

Nah... I'm just making up for when I was a screwed up kid that
could barely utter one coherent sentence without curling up
into a ball of overly self-conscious goo . Also, something happened
to my brain back then from all the drugs and alcohol . It got bent,
and after I regained my senses (rehab in 1988) things were different.
Maybe I finally had something interesting to say , or became sane
enough to function in a seemingly normal way.

Plus, you hang around enough, you see some stuff, things percolate
in your head , you type enough stupid crap , some of it comes out
good . (short answer ;))

oh yeah.... no, I've always worked in either jewelry manufacturing or
toolmaking (for jewelers and metal artists)

OK lol I only meant how your sentences only go halfway across the page....most sentences go all the way across the screen....you must be hitting return more often...reminded me of newspaper

Don't worry, I am the last guy who should complain about sentence structure on this forum...I am all over the place

take care

"All over the place" is my specialty. Graphically and mentally

Looks like a good card. I didn't see Carlos' last fight (loss to Magny)
so I'm hoping he'll be back in top form . Home town guy, and all .
Co-main event, right?

Justin/Dustin should be a real war ...

Good example. People are just more and more well-rounded as the sport evolves.
Royce Gracie vs. Matt Hughes ... which is a little ironic in that BJJ is all Royce had,
and also what has helped fighters become well-rounded as much as anything has,
along with wrestling. All of which kind of makes what I just said sound a little stupid,
because with good BJJ and good wrestling , you're pretty well-rounded right there.
But I was thinking of the early days, when a lot more people were only good in one area,
and in the very beginning, that was not Jiu-Jitsu.

It's an accurate statement but a strange one to make right before you fight him. All that should matter for Dustin is that it could be sustainable for one more fight.

He needs to mentally prepare for a war and not some conservative Gaethje we've never seen.
