Hieroglyphics were honorary east-coasters, imo.

The whole crew were likely the mostly lyrical posse that ever came out of California.

Del, Casual, A-Plus, Phesto, Souls, Tajai, Domino, Pep Love, Toure, Opio....

I do miss them.

what do you mean "miss them", you obviously dont listen to hip hop still because you would know they released an album in 2013, and they each put out new music all the time. I have seem them 3 times in the last few years. the second time I was walking around Seattle drunk as fuck with A-Plus smoking a blunt.

I miss them the same way I miss Run Dmc who I've seen 15 times since they last released an album. I miss them the same way I miss the Fugees although Lauren Hill has played a grip of appearances in the last several years and Wyclef has released 11 albums since The Score. The same way I miss 80% of rap groups that are still touring and making music but are no longer living in their 'era'.

Herioglyphics as a group hadn't released anything since 2003. Casual had a 6 year hiatus before he started releasing albums again, as did several of the other members. Your inference that I somehow haven't listened to 'the Kitchen' which is like 2 years old because I miss their time in music is hilariously misplaced. I didn't think they returned to form so it wasn't one of my favorites, which makes me miss their time all the more. Also, it's my JOB to 'obviously' listen to hip-hop, so you're 'obviously' smoking that blunt while typing that post. You're gonna be hard-pressed to find a hip-hop album I have no clue about....

Doesn't matter which region it's from to me, as long as it's creative, got a sick beat, and i can understand what is being said.

It was through the great Dick Cheese that I came to appreciate rap. Some it is quite catchy., a few real toe-tappers.

Dick made rap accessible for me; I'm indebted.

Overall pound for pound, east coast destroys west coast. There just aren't enough good west coast rappers to compete.

But right now Kendrick is king.
