Finally getting somewhere with our public health system. They have decided after 4-5 months of physio with 2 different people that physio isnt working. So I go under the knife next week.

Anthroscopy with potential for a little more if they find anything interesting.

Anyone had a surgery like this? The internet seems to tell me that I will be back on my feet pretty quick and wont need any real time off work.

Had the injury for 16-17 months now. Really hoping that this is successful, kinda given up hope of ever walking comfortably again let alone running.

do that rehab 100% and give it your all...that is the most important part IMO

They're Ralph Lauren mate

Got some gorgeous bamboo ones I like to wear. They're reserved for tomorrow. So soft
bamboo socks and fabric wears out fast in my experience...had a shirt that lived a short life

Was getting somewhere it felt, then slipped down some wet stairs yesterday and think I am fucked. It has swollen to the size of melon and it made a very loud clicking noise...

Felt phsyically sick.

by fluke had my consultation post op today, see how it goes. Fear the worst. After over a year and a half of not much I could be back to square one...

Fear my knee will always be shot.

Good Luck. Ever heard of a Kono knee band? Could help a bit in the rehab stage. Some weightlifters/powerlifters swear by those things as well as some rehab people.

Naw, stay in the positive territory as much as possible bro

Do cold water in shower...like go hot cold and work your way to the coldest and lay it on thigh to ankle...gets a healing response and blood flow for swelling

it can be rough but it will help with swelling and damage

Gotta be proactive

even if it is messed again modern knee medicine can do amazing things

wet stairs suck

Still suffering. Still swollen. Maybe I am looking at more months out than I thought.

Some biking inside only. Struggling to keep the weight off for when I go back. Plenty of walking around with no pain but it still isnt right.

Long ol road this

3 months almost to the day I am going back swimming again.

Cycling came last week and running a few days later. Slow. Hard. Tough. My body has seriously changed in just 3 months but I am now able to train properly.

This next year coming up is gonna see something special. Triathlon probably. I always finished in the top 20 before, could probably go there again now fit

Finally just stumbled into your thread benjo0101 @benjo0101, what's the full story? How did you injure your knee?

What's your status now?
Long story. But I ran 10k (6 miles to you savages) in 48 minutes pain free last week.

Also swam 7k (4.5 miles for you savages) in the pool

And cycled 100k (62 miles for you savages) on the road

So.... knee wise we are getting there, only taken 2 years

What was the original injury?

Torn Meniscus?

How you doing now? Still going hard?

I had a lateral release surgery. My kneecap didnt track "straight", your kneecap should float within a couple of grooves to allow it to track up and down but isnt fixed or else your leg would explode. Mine was heavily pulled to the outside of the knee rubbing on the grooves and other things, incredible levels of pain without anything actually being torn or broken. Surgery released that pulling and it went back to the middle.

Took near 2 years so atrophy was incredible. Still, 6+ months on have one leg half the size of the other.
