"The sky is constantly changing" makes me think of an amazing quote by heraclitus. I'm gonna tweak iit

"No man looks at the same sky twice, because its not the same sky. And he's bit the same man"

Very true.

I also like the idea that when you view deep sky objects you are actually
looking back into time. Spent quite a bit of time on Andromeda Galaxy last
night. Its 2.5 Million light years away so when you observe it you are actually
observing how it looked 2.5 Million years ago.

Crazy because humans weren't even around when that light started travelling here

Im with ya. My last message was going to be Dr Manhattan's quote, but I figured I had spammed your thread enough already

"All we see of stars are their old photographs" or something like that

I'm not sure which it is. But I'm assuming it's a planet since it's the only thing visible in the sky right now...

Or maybe the earth just 's flying away from the sun right now and it's really far away. Probably not tho bc it's hot as hell right now

It's in the SW sky. Know which one it is?

Ahh just tell me your general location and time and I can tell you what it is.
Early morning is probably Venus but cant verify for sure without general location
and time.

2nd way - If you have android or apple phone go to your app store and type in
"astronomy app". You'll find plenty of free and low cost apps that you can simply punch
in your location and time and hold your phone toward the object and it will tell you what it is.

The Celestron Sky portal app even talks. Pretty cool

Planet colors:

Jupiter Bright pale yellow.

Saturn Bright yellow/orangish

Mars Bright orange

Venus white to light yellow

Uranus and Neptune are blueish but you need a telescope.

Pluto white bluish and also need a telescope. Plus its not a planet anymore
its been reclassified to basically and asteroid in the Kuiper belt among many others

the cones in my eyes are not* the best. and it was pretty blatantly orange (not in the screenshot at 9pm ,but at 4am when the sky was dark) so im guessing mars...

Yeah Venus should not be orange. If it is we got major trouble. LOL

If you are in the US though it either has to be Jupiter which would be yellow orange or Venus)

Mars I believe this time of year is not visible in the US in the morning
unless its very early morning in the Western horizon just before it dips below
the horizon.

Oh just saw this... If its 9PM in the south west its Jupiter.
should be in the SW sky and the brightest thing in it as well. Saturn will be to its left

Grab a pair of binoculars and you'll be able to see all four of her moons

If its early morning like 4AM -5AM in the southwest then Jupiter has dipped below the horizon
and its Mars you are looking at

Whoa. That makes perfect sense. So I probably saw Jupiter at night (looked yellow to me, but probably would have looked a little more orange as the sky darkened

And then Mars in the morning. (The orange stood out prior to you listing the colors)

Thanks!! U just maDE my nights cooler by being able to put those light's into perspective :))

Whoa. That's awesome!!

I thought the world was flat tho??
Yeah its flat. Don't tell all the youtube mom basement couch living flat earth "scientists"
that they are right and all the genius minds of the century like Einstein, Newton, Stephen
Hawking etc are completely wrong. LOL

I always wanted to explain to a flat earther that while they are typing their nonsense
onto their phone and Facebook posts that their phone wouldn't work unless the earth was
round (all the math in your phone is based on round earth science) so they should stop using
it and communicate with a cup and a string.

I just don't have the patience for them though
