Former UFC fighter Matt Riddle about make his WWE/NXT debut

Former UFC fighter Matt Riddle canceled a lot of his indy wrestling appearances & rumored to be shown as the new signee at NXT (SummerSlam) weekend in Augustr.

Matt has been a top indy guy for a few years and had interest from New Japan but they had issues with his pot smoking (a big nono in Japan).
WWE had similar concerns (a bit hypocritical) but they seem to have been lessened.

He is considered a can't miss performer

When I read Riddle was first getting into pro wrestling, I just laughed. What's this skinny, goofy-looking guy going to do in pro wrestling?

I only watch nxt, the match quality on thier paperview is usually top drawer. Been hearing about riddle for a while. If he is being mention with them cats he's doing good. Regular wwe blows ass. I watched that extreme rules the other day, all the matches were normal bar one woman's match.

The ecw fan in me was sad

I loved ECW back in the day but hardcore wrestling doesn't do much for me anymore.

Im not all about gore matches. Far from it. What I liked about ecw was the atmosphere coupled with the show in the ring. You could have a 1 minute sequence of crazy wrestling going back and forth and it would already be getting chants of Holy shit before the sequence ends with a great chairshot or a high flying move to the outside.

The talent was there

These we're guys that put on awesome matches regardless of if weapons get used. It was the springboard for them

Packed crowds in small venues really getting into some entertaining matches.
