A thrilling lightweight bout between Dustin Poirier and Nate Diaz was announced last week for UFC 230, and the two fighters even stared down at a recent press conference in Los Angeles. But it seems like when a Diaz brother is involved, nothing’s a done deal until both fighters are in the Octagon.

Diaz left the UFC’s 25th anniversary press conference, which preceded last Saturday’s UFC 227, when a title fight between champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor was announced for UFC 229 in October.

He shortly thereafter expressed his discontent with the promotion via social media.

“F-k the @ufc,” Diaz wrote on Twitter.

UFC president Dana White didn’t seem too worried…

The Diaz’s are really annoying and I wouldn’t be friends with them IRL
Really? You think demanding a title fight, $5 million base pay, and PPV points every time they fight (regardless of the result of their last fight) is annoying?

I consider myself a Diaz nuthugger. They are making it hard to be a Diaz nuthugger. Not sure how you Conor fans did it.

Fuck I’m tired of the Diaz brothers. Fight or don’t, I’ll give a shit when you step in the cage.

Favourite Nate gif.

i miss the days when fighters didnt have contracts or only had one or two fight contracts then they were free to fight for whoever they wanted. too many guys are wasting away on the sidelines or "retired" with fights owing

As far as Poirier is concerned, the fight is still on for Nov. 3.

“I mean, as far as I know,” Poirier said Monday on The MMA Hour. “I think I’m the one fighting the guy. If something changed, I think they would have let me know. I haven’t heard anything. Nate says a lot of stuff, but when he signs a fight contract, I don’t really know of any times that he’s not shown up to fight or pulled out of a fight. He says a lot of stuff and does a lot of stuff in the media between fights, but when he signs a contract, the guy shows up and puts it all on the line every time.”

To me that is if he signs, he always shows up. It doesn't say he signed, therefore he will show up.

I wasn't saying he signed anything
I quoted his opponent saying (according to him) the fight is on
Without bout agreements signed by both parties it's hard to say a fight is on though. The ufc may be attempting to force the fight, but at the end of the day at least one fighter in this matchup doesn't appear to be cooperating.

I am giving a quote from a fighter saying that (according to him) the fight is on.

If you want to disagree with him, tweet him (I doubt he is reading it here) lol
I am assuming he has an idea what is going on & since he doesn't have a history of lying to media, I think his comment is/was worth sharing & noting
