Meltzer (on a Thursday audio) says he was told Conor insisted on being a co-promoter & UFC obliged.
He did not get full confirmation yet, but I could see it possibly occurring.

I can't imagine there is truth in that. Conor may pretend he is a hot shot partner with them, but in reality he is a hot burning flame that will go out soon. Hard to imagine they would agree to any type of co-promoting with anyone. Then again, it's hard to imagine a lot of the bullshit they are doing nowadays. Guess if it happens we can see some "I'm not surprised mother fuckers" pictures in here.

The fight should be the biggest in MMA history
Slapping a "McGregor Promotions" on it to insure it gets done is totally possible

It can be varied:
  • It could just be in name only
  • He could use it for tax reasons
  • He could actually have a say in who is on the card & how the event is promoted.

Without knowing the details, it could be a big deal or just a token gesture.

They agreed to co-promotion with M-1 Global, something Zuffa would never do. Still idk why they would with just 1 person instead of an organization, even if WME-IMG has shown a willingness to co-promote.

It is still "Zuffa", I think you meant 'Fertitta's"

I should add that Conor said after the Alvarez fight that he is tired of others on his cards making PPV points & not drawing.
That whatever PPV points they got, should be added to his take instead.
If he has a say in the co-main (rumored to be a non title match), that would lead to him possibly having some say as a promoter

I don't think your argument makes sense. You admit that Conor is, as of now, a hot burning flame, so why wouldn't they co-promote with him now?

Conor 100% deserves to be a co-promoter. People can hate on him all they want but facts are facts: he is far and away the biggest draw they have, with nobody even coming close. If they want to do big PPV numbers, there's only one guy to call.

Conor brings in crazy money, and he should no longer be happy getting compensated pennies on the dollar for it.

Is it really co-promoting if McGregor doesn't put up any money?
Or is it just a branding thing?
Conor is taking a page out of Mayweather's book - Floyd's been doing this for a long time. I imagine the logic is that the fighter is putting up his body as capital.

I'm not hating on him at all. I'm a Conor fan. I hope he keeps knocking guys cold for years to come. However, I don't think it would be wise to co-promote. He is, as of this moment, the hottest star on the roster by a wide margin. Say they decide to co-promote with him and he gets rag dolled and dismantled by Khabib (which is possible). He is still going to be the biggest draw his next fight. He will still expect to be co-promoter even if he loses 3 in a row. That wouldn't make sense for the UFC. If he co-promotes once or twice he will expect it indefinitely and it could lead to bigger contract arguments. Also, what do they really have to gain from adding him as a co-promoter? Is he going to chip in a few mill for the marketing campaign? I don't think so. I also don't think adding his name as a co-promoter would sell additional tickets. People will buy his fights regardless.

So he get three fights cancelled, injure fighters, and gets hit with criminal charges..... and the penalty by the UFC is to use the "bus attack" footage in the promotional sizzle reel, AND allow him to co promote his fight.......... And the fighters STILL don't want to unionize??? Porra caralho

You gotta laugh because when you think about it, it's sad and fucked up
When they cannot get 30% to sign a card anonymously that would benefit them with info, there is no chance they get a majority to unionize.
I will never understand turning down info that can possibly benefit your lively-hood.
