Some good teams in the AL playoffs

Boston was 3-4 against the Astros this season.
Against Cleveland they were 2-2
Against Oakland they are 2-4
And against NY they are 9-7

So they have a combined record of 16-17 against the teams that will be in the AL postseason.

I wouldn't be counting those chickens just yet.

I'm listening to the MIL@CHI game, and it sounds like a bunch of Milwaukee fans made it down to the game.

It sounds like a home game for Milwaukee.

Currently 1st and 3rd with 0 out in the top of the 8th.
MIL up 2-1

Elimination game tonight. Rockies at Cubs. Game is at 8.
Winner heads to Milwaukee to take on the Brewers. Loser goes the fuck home.

On the bump for the Rockies is Kyle Freeland. 17-7 with a 2.85 ERA and a 1.25 WHIP
Freeland is working on short rest (3 day), so I don't know how long they'll leave him out there. Rockies pen has been pitching well though.

For the Cubs it will be Jon Lester. 18-6 with a 3.32 ERA and a 1.31 WHIP
Not going to lie - I'm hoping for a come-backer to the mound so I can laugh at his goofy ass try to throw to first base.

Geek alert.

ESPN2 is covering the game by focusing on real time statcast. They have a 3D batters box. Giving stolen base success probability with every step the runner takes.

Pretty wild stuff.

Oh shit! Baez just tied it with a double with 2 outs in the bottom of the 8th.

1-1

Wrigley is rocking.

Another elimination game tonight.
A's @ Yankees

Severino starts for the Yanks. He's 19-8 on the year with a 3.39 era and a 1.14 whip

Oakland is going with Liam Hendricks (0-1, 4.13 era, 1.46 whip) to start, but he'll likely only be out there for an inning or two. I wouldn't be surprised to see Oakland use 7 or 8 pitchers in this one.

How is this new rotation trend affecting the game? I couldn't follow anything this season but I've read that some teams are doing it - Rays, Braves, A's? is it a league wide thing or just a couple teams being funny?

and how come Yankees and Red Sox are seeded to face each other in the division series?

The yankoffs are close to getting dealt with by the Sox!

Can’t wait!

Please win yankoffs, please?!

It's a result of the sabermeterics thing. A pitcher's success rate isn't as good the 2nd time through the order. To combat this, some teams are making the decision to use pitchers in 2 or 3 inning installments regardless of how good they are doing so the batter never gets comfortable facing a pitcher.

The Rays did it because their starting pitching sucks. I don't know that it will become a league-wide trend, but pitchers have a much shorter leash than they had just a few years ago.

That was a shit at bat. His moment was 3-1. No pressure on the batter. And he got a fucking meatball.

Then he swung at ball 5. Skag.

This is what it’s about.....a blowout bores me and as much as I hate the yankoffs I love this shit.......let’s see what the team is about....if they can’t shut them down then they don’t deserve it
