Aldo throws same punch as Khabib and gets knocked out.

Khabib threw the same punch , but instead of trying to knock him out with the left Conor moves backward and pays for it.

You could tell during the fight Conor had come in unprepared. Kind of sucked for those of us that assumed he would actually have a training camp or something.

Or Conor was so concerned about the takedown and not the overhand right so he wasn’t ready for it?

Thats what you get for training with a small camp of mediocre fighters who dont offer a challenge

He panics and thinks Khabib is going to go for a single, he pulls his leg back and leaves his chin exposed because he’s terrified of being taken down.

Let Conor finish out his contract by fighting Denis Siver 7 more times. It might be embarrassing for him but it’s for his own safety. Dana could also do him a favour and let him out of his contract so he can go to Bellator and do the Venom Page circuit.

At this point, love him or hate him, you have to admit, it’s dangerous for Conor McGregor to be fighting in the UFC.

The human neck was not designed to take this much damage.

His neck is shot. I heard he lost consciousness Sunday morning when he tried to put on a turtleneck.

I’m sure he took the fight seriously, but living the rockstar lifestyle has to take away from his preparation, at least a little.

I think he was rusty, 2 years out will do that to you and going against one of the best LWs out there who's been extremely active. I look forward to the rematch, will do 4-5mil buys, easy.

Correct. He was less active, took more time off and went up in weight and finished the fight. Cruz is another guy who showed us ring rust can be beat.
Until either of those guys fights Floyd Mayweather in a huge money boxing match, I don't really find it an apt comparison tbh..

It's funny how everyone ignore the reasonable response from his coach: they focussed too much on defense and not enough on offense. If you watch it back, it makes perfect sense. He's expecting takedowns on every feint Khabib offered and was trigger shy because his mind was so set on the TDD that he couldn't get much going with his striking. By the time Khabib tired out a little bit Conor's shots weren't crisp and didn't have the pop they normally do.

God I hate defending the guy but dammit it's common sense. Do I think CM can beat Khabib the next time? Yes and no, but I am interested to see how he will adapt should he get his wish for another go at it. Just like he adapted for the second Nate fight. Admittedly I felt Nate won that one but hey, Conor adapted none the less and showed a different game plan which made it much more interesting and enjoyable.

Not sure if this comparison is serious, but there was neither any feinted level change from Aldo, or imminent threat of a takedown. Difference seems pretty obvious...

The Aldo clip is a fresh McG throwing his first punch.

The Khabib one is an already fading McG unable to respond as quickly, and thinking takedown defense.
