Exclusive: Trump targeting birthright citizenship with executive order

Just for the sake, anyone care to argue why illegal immigrants having Birthright citizenship is a good thing?

Also this will never stand up in court. Executive branch can't do this on it's own.
LMAO! Because it's always been that way and its been that way since the constitution was drafted.

Thanks though for providing evidence for Trump's targetting or legal immigration like I said and was attacked for.

Between this and sending 5,200 troops to the border months before the arrival of the migrant caravan (but only a week before the midterm elections), this orange-tinged goof is pulling out all the stops to try and keep Republican control of both houses.

When the Constitution was drafted it took people 2 months to cross the Atlantic. I doubt they envisioned a time when the same trip could be done in 8 hours.

There is a pretty big difference between a woman having a baby after living here for years and some pregnant woman jumping on a plane to spend a nice summer vacation in America and score a free citizenship for her newborn.

Apparently you haven't heard about the rampant pink eye in this caravan. Is 5200 armed troops enough? ;)

From New York Times:
But the health of those in the caravan has deteriorated. Local aid groups noted a rise in conjunctivitis, respiratory illness, fever and diarrhea. In Mapastepec, Mexico, more than 4,400 people were treated in medical tents on Wednesday, according to a doctor with the town’s health services.

If you think there's a good reason to change any aspect of the constitution, then go right ahead. The amendment process is plain as day . . . and it does not include executive order.
When the Constitution was drafted...
Same as the standard, weak anti-Second Amendment argument. Even weaker in this context, since it's not even factually relevant.

Dirty Spaniards could walk to the US in 1789. Even worse, Limeys and Frogs could walk here too! We didn't lock up that border until the 21st Century.

America was shitty back then. They didn't have to worry about the Limeys and the Frogs.

You're 100% correct.
It's just political posturing before the midterms.

lol@ the thought of someone not finding out Trump, who has 55.5 million followers and news channels dedicated to his every move 24/7, was bad mouthing them because he didn't @ mention them.

It's hilarious watching libs grasp on to straws as their side continues to drown
Its a matter of honor.

Only bitches talk about others behind their back. If you have something to say, make sure you include the person you are shit talking.

Graham to introduce legislation to end birthright citizenship
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) on Tuesday said that he will introduce legislation to end birthright citizenship after President Trump suggested he wanted to do so through an executive order.

"Finally, a president willing to take on this absurd policy of birthright citizenship. I’ve always supported comprehensive immigration reform — and at the same time — the elimination of birthright citizenship," Graham said in a string of tweets.

He added that he plans "to introduce legislation along the same lines as the proposed executive order" from Trump. Congress is out of session until Nov. 13.

If Graham is going to propose legislation to amend the Constitution, his bill would need to win over not only two-thirds majorities in Congress, but also be ratified by three-quarters of the states.

His announcement comes hours after Trump said in an interview released Tuesday that he will sign an executive order intended to end the practice of birthright citizenship.

"It was always told to me that you needed a constitutional amendment. Guess what? You don't," Trump said during an interview with Axios.

"You can definitely do it with an act of Congress. But now they're saying I can do it just with an executive order," the president added, before stating, incorrectly: "We're the only country in the world where a person comes in and has a baby, and the baby is essentially a citizen of the United States ... with all of those benefits."

Most countries in the Western Hemisphere, including Mexico and Canada, have some form of birthright citizenship.

The move would spark an uphill court battle and pave the way for a showdown at the Supreme Court over the 14th Amendment, which states that all persons "born or naturalized in the United States" are "citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside."

Democrats and progressive groups immediately panned Trump's comments as a distraction with a week to go until the midterm elections. The president has increasingly leaned into hard-line immigration rhetoric as he tries to fire up his base to vote next week.

"This is a blatantly unconstitutional attempt to fan the flames of anti-immigrant hatred in the days ahead of the midterms. The 14th Amendment’s citizenship guarantee is clear. You can’t erase the Constitution with an executive order," the American Civil Liberties Union said in a tweet.

Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) added that voters shouldn't "take the bait."

"He’ll say anything before the election. Don’t take the bait. Focus on ending the hate. Hug a kid. Be nice to someone you don’t know or agree with. And vote. Please vote," Klobuchar added.

But Vice President Pence said "we all cherish" the 14th Amendment but appeared to suggest that the administration had an opening if Trump issues an executive order.

"The Supreme Court of the United States has never ruled on whether or not the language of the 14th Amendment subject to the jurisdiction thereof applies specifically to people who are in the country illegally,” Pence said at a Politico event on Tuesday.

Special Counsel Alerts FBI Of Scheme To Pay Women To Accuse Mueller Of Sexual Assault
Peter Carr, spokesman for the Special Counsel’s office to Hill Reporter: “When we learned last week of allegations that women were offered money to make false claims about the Special Counsel, we immediately referred the matter to the FBI for investigation.”

A little over a week ago several journalists, including myself, received an email from an individual claiming to have been offered money in exchange for alleging sexual misconduct on the part of Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

“I was contacted via phone call by a man named Bill Christensen, who had a British accent, and said that he would like to ask me a couple of questions about Robert Mueller, whom I worked with when I was a paralegal for Pillsbury, Madison, and Sutro in 1974 (now called Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman),” the individual claimed. “I asked him who he was working for, and he told me his boss was some sort of politics guy in Washington named Jack Burkman (or Berkman… Not sure how it’s spelled)…….

….He (Bill Christensen) then offered to pay off all of my credit card debt, plus bring me a check for $20,000 if I would do one thing. In more of an effort to get him to go away than anything else, I asked him what in the hell he wanted me to do. He said that we could not talk about it on the phone, and he asked me to download an app on my phone called Signal, which he said was more secure. Reluctantly, I downloaded the app and he called me on that app a few minutes later. He said (and I will never forget exactly what it was) ‘I want you to make accusations of sexual misconduct and workplace harassment against Robert Mueller, and I want you to sign a sworn affidavit to that effect’.”

This individual said that they were a female living in Fort Myers, Florida, but she would not speak to any reporters over the phone. Hill Reporter looked into this woman, as did many other journalists we have spoken with, and we all reached a conclusion that this was likely a hoax of some sort. No one by the name provided lived in Fort Myers, Florida according to the numerous background checks which we ran.

We also reached out to Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP, and they informed us “we have no record of this individual working for our firm.” They also confirmed that they had no record of the woman’s maiden name, as it was provided to Hill Reporter.

We decided to investigate this matter to see who could be behind this apparent hoax. First, we reached out to a phone number that this woman gave us. After calling the number, we promptly received what we viewed as a threatening text message back, which read, “You’re in over your head…. Drop this”. The message included the home addresses of two of our editors, including myself.

Then out of nowhere, we received a phone call from another number originating from the same area code, of a man who claimed to be Mike Wilcox of a company called ‘Surefire Intelligence’. He again threatened us, telling us to “stop communicating with” the woman who had contacted us previously. (Both phone numbers have since been disconnected).

Around the same time as we and other journalists received this questionable email, a Republican lobbyist, radio host and right-wing conspiracy theorist, Jack Burkman (also mentioned in the questionable email), began promoting, via his Facebook page, that he is investigating sexual misconduct and alcohol-related allegations against Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

Between reporting the threatening text message and phone call to the Special Counsel and discussing the matter with other well-known journalists, Hill Reporter reached out to Jack Burkman himself. Burkman would not discuss his investigation, other than telling us that he had “one woman ready to go public” and “discussions ongoing with a second [woman]”. He then informed us that he is familiar with a company called “Surefire Intelligence” and that a man named Jacob Wohl runs it.

“Surefire is a real company, an intel operation in Los Angeles,” Burkman told Hill Reporter. ” We have known them for a long time. The guy’s name is Jacob Wohl. They do a lot of intel work. They do a lot of good research.”

Jacob Wohl, for those of you who are unaware, is a far-right Twitter troll who has had his own run-ins with the law in the past. Hill Reporter did a DNS check on the domain name for Surefire Intelligence, which found that Wohl’s email address was listed on the SOA RNAME: record.

MAGA Trolls' Efforts to Take Down Robert Mueller Flame Out in Hilarious and Spectacular Fashion
Politics in 2018 is a nightmarish hellscape that is largely devoid of heroes, so let us take a brief moment to revel in the astonishing stupidity of one of its third-tier villains: Jacob Wohl, who you may recognize as the greasy 20-year-old doofus who pops up first in the replies below every other Donald Trump tweet. This delightful tale began on Monday, when the disgraced teenaged hedge fund genius posted a tantalizing hint about a major forthcoming news story: Special counsel Robert Mueller, the evil mastermind behind the insidious left-wing plot to take down Wohl's beloved president, has been hiding a dark past from the American people all along.

Alas, Wohl's prediction was a fervent bit of wishcasting, because it sure seems—seems—that he and his crew of MAGA-adjacent dorks cooked up the entire thing themselves. According to NBC News, several reporters were told in recent weeks that a mysterious individual had offered various women $20,000 to claim that Mueller, while an attorney in private practice in the mid-1970s, and engaged in some form of sexual misconduct. Independently of one another, those reporters determined that literally none of the relevant aspects of the story checked out, and so they passed along the tip to the special counsel's office, which in turn referred it to the FBI for investigation.

One of the entities linked to this alleged scheme—which, it bears repeating, is intended to take down the longtime director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation—is a Southern California-based outfit called Surefire Intelligence. This revelation was all the Internet needed to unspool Wohl's handiwork in damning and hilarious fashion. His email address appears in the domain registration records. As noted at The Daily Beast, LinkedIn profiles of purported Surefire Intelligence staffers used headshots of Bar Refaeli, Christoph Waltz, Sigourney Weaver's husband, and some poor pastor in Michigan. Its "head of government relations" works as a model for stock photos. And the silhouette of Surefire managing partner "Matthew Cohen" bears a remarkable resemblance to the shadow cast by Jacob Wohl himself.

Best of all, Wohl's efforts to cover the tracks of his smoke-and-mirrors investigative services agency did not extend past the phone numbers of his immediate family members. NBC News also discovered that a number listed on Surefire Intelligence's web site connected to a voicemail message that advised callers to try a second number, which belongs to...Jacob Wohl's mom. "Wohl stopped respond to NBC News," their report concludes, "after being told Surefires's official phone number redirects to his mother's voicemail."

Wohl's spin on all of this, which is ambitious in the same way that the Donner party's attempts to cross the Sierra Nevadas in November were ambitious, is that at least one of the women who states that they were pressured to lie about Mueller does not exist—in other words, that would-be liars seem to have some credibility problems. Thus, he concludes, this story proves the existence of a vast media conspiracy to discredit Mueller's accusers, who, again, have yet to emerge. And it is definitely not just another layer of evidence of Jacob Wohl's humiliating incompetence.
