Shortly after the TUF 28 Finale ended, Dana White spoke to the media about the status Conor McGregor. He again dispelled rumors of a potential bout with Donald Cerrone, and instead suggested a different option. He wants what would basically be a 4-man lightweight tournament next.

“The ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone fight has never, ever been discussed,” White told the assembled media. (HT: MMA Fighting) “That’s completely not true. I said the fight that makes sense right now is probably Poirier.

“Then Tony gets a shot at the title and the two winners fight each other. But I’m not sure exactly on a date when Conor is gonna fight yet. We have to get through this Nevada State Athletic Commission stuff first.”

I like the sound of this. Let's see if they actually do it now.

I think so too. That would probably be the end of McGregor's MMA career, if so. He may want to go ahead and take the Nate trilogy first.
I think he only needs to fight paydays
not sure if he is gonna take MMA serious enough anymore...his hunger is gone(I don't blame him with his bank account)

Nate
Khabib rematch if he can get a win or two
Dustin might not be worth the risk, could get KOed rather easily

I find it weird that he hasn't bothered to speak to John Kavanaugh about the fight yet.

Lack of fucks to give for the loss and MMA?

Or lack of fucks to give for John's game plan and coaching?

Personally I'd give Conor a can to crush and build back up. Hell 2 of them.. Slowly build back up like the prowrestling they already ripped the marketing off, so why not? The fan base want the story and the build up.

It's so messed up that for for years everytime Dana says something I'm wondering what his true agenda is and how he's gonna end up up going the polar oopposite of what he he says...

Does he want to rattle (I gave no better english term sorry) up so that when Dana offers the real fight it might sound more 'sexy' and cashy than fighting Poirer?

If they end up fighting I see Connor being much more dynamic and countering Poirer in one of his striking combos

I think it's more about John since Conor has been training at other SBG gyms lately. Though it also could be that he has been there just to promote those gyms

He lost to Khabib but he obviously trained very hard for that fight. Fought off Khabib very well but made a couple of mistakes which cost him. I think the whole "his hunger is gone" idea is an assumption with no evidence. Money is always good for him, but I don't think that's why he's still fighting.

opinions will vary
I don't think he has been fully invested since the eddie alvarez fight
Mayweather and Khabib fights were all about money IMO

Well, Mayweather, sure. Haha.. but he could have made just as much money fighting Nate again as he did with Khabib, and shit he could have pulled Pauli Malianaggi out of retirement in a hot second.

I think he wants to prove he is the Best...I just don't think he is putting in the work it takes(proper 12 campaign had to take up a lot of time that could have been spent training)
not to disparage his skill or his opponents though...he is fighting the best of the best

But what do I/we know...just fanboys with opinions

McGregor trains hard, and he didn't look physically fatigued against Khabib as much as he looked mentally beat. At some point, he definitely came to the realization that he couldn't grapple with Khabib and the odds of him getting a knockout were slim to none. It's more a question of matchups than conditioning.

I know he trains hard...he also spent a ton of time on Whiskey promo and False Bravado for press conferences
HE hasn't spoken to his trainer since the fight and even threw some shade his way

I respect your and every fan's opinion

I just think his serious and 100% focused days are long gone

He's always been that guy at press conferences, and for this fight his (UFC) press obligations were far less than they were for previous fights, so he could, in theory, train more. You maybe be right about his not being able to focus 100% in light of his new wealth which brings with it a certain amount of distraction. That said, I don't think the result would've been different either way. I know for the second fight with Nate he spent around 200k on his camp and ended up with a decision victory, which would indicate that his conditioning and training camps do vary from fight to fight, but Nate's not Khabib.
