Haven't played chess in years. Maybe I will see if there's an app. I think I could dominate.

I'll dumb it down,,, I was playing somebody online, with a rating of over 2000 (which is high), mine is only about 1500 (which is bog standard), and we use an applet with a website called lichess, with each game set at 15 minutes each way.

Anyway this guy who i was playing against, was beating me, and playing quick, quicker than me, and i can play real quick sometimes. Anyway in our final match i got a better position in the opening, and was only down a pawn after the middle game and in to the end game, then i had the chance to run my two pawns up the board, with the help of my king. (That's in the endgame, so titled because it is when there are only a few pieces left on the board, typically the kings and a few pawns.)

I was a fool and went to the left, where his king was, instead of clearing up on the right, and getting my pawns to promotion. I'm not sure , if they would have made it, but you know, i thought there was something fishy about this player, who played the right moves, quickly, almost without hesitation, to get a forced win. Don't get me wrong, he could have just been a very good player. But after the game was over, and he had buggered off, i saw that it said he used computer assistance, with his moves. Which, as i said in my original post, kind of defeats the purpose. I see this happening quite often this days. You get players who have these like massive rankings, 2100 plus for example, and they play very fast. Which nine times out of ten, means that they are cheating.

Sad really.

It's like a few days ago, i asked my dad to play me with a chess clock app on my phone (which means that the game we played was timed), and cut his ability to pause and spend ages thinking over his moves. Anyway he lost, and then in a mard said he's never going to do it again. Which is a shame because i think the chess clock adds an element of realism to the games.

Let me know if any of you want a game some time, and if we are both online at the same time, i can make it happen, thanks////JR

Think my ranking is 2 200. Haven't played online for a while.
That's quite good. I've been up to about 1700 or 1800 once, but then all that s**t kicked off a couple of years ago, and i was so depressed i literally played to lose.

So my rating tanked to about 1200, and i have been picking up the pieces since then.

What time controls do you like Wild. ?

I prefer 5 minutes for each side, 10 is ok. 15 is too long for my attention span.

It's called Fischer time controls. Like ten minutes + 2 seconds added per move.

Don't worry if you don't play it. Some people like it, personally I prefer just fifteen minutes straight games.

Do you want a game now Wild. say ten minutes each way? I can set one up if you like?

Teaching a class in a couple of minutes, I've got a break in 2 hours though and we could have a game then.

Quite good.
I was around 1800 on Yahoo chess ... Like 15-18 years ago I used to play regularly. Loved the website.
Now with the kids and work my brain is way too fried my rating would sink.

Yahoo chess was good. So was Excite chess and Pogo. Online chess these days doesn't really compare...

Wow, he really fucked up your pawn structure and then pushed that passed pawn.

Sure. I've not been playing much recently. I want to play more. I played three games today, the first won by winning the exchange, and a clear material dominance. The second was a draw, we traded off early, and i had to trade my extra rook for his passed pawn. And then in the final game, it was a technical win for me, again a material advantage, from a won pin or fork or skewer or something, with two or three extra pawns in the end game, and a final king and queen and rook, against king and knight. So i took his knight and it was a simple mopping up process, and uke left the board. With timers of like 3 three hours. But it was a casual game, and he ignored my attempts to message him. So eventually i gave in and left the table.

Moral victory for me though?!
