the difference is Colby wins his fights but isn't articulating himself near as well as Chael .. It's not always what you say it's how it's said that gets the pop..Chael has the gift of gab.. Colby on the other hand not so much.

chael made me dislike him...very effective
Colby still just makes me laugh because he is from the same part of Oregon I am and nobody actually acts like that

Chael is so bad he is good
Colby needs to get worse before he can compete at being a heel

chael plays the heel role well and it saved his career. chael is really nothing more than a journeyman who has talked himself into some epic asswhoopings and made bank along the way. colby is full cringe . he is probably at a higher level than chael but his delivery is pure garbage. when chael went hard at brazil he did it in a way that made everyone laugh and got under some peoples skin. when colby goes at brazil it comes across like someones little brother trying way too hard to talk shit

Joe Rogan should watch his mouth . He already dodged a bullet when Colby decided to not slap his bald head at UFC 225 after nerdbashing Ralphie Dos Nachos for 5 rounds
Colby's buildup to that Dos Nachos nerd bash is what sold me. Loved how he said he was gonna have Trump deport him lulz...

Agree with Jimmy - good video!

Chael is a wrestling Mark, a student of the game who knows the history of wrestling / and martial arts

Chael is playing the bad guy (Razor Ramon) role well and added a nice little curve ball to the MMA scene - Conor took it to another level with the trash talking.

Colby seems completely lost though - he's trying to emulate what Chael/Conor but it does not come off authentic or original. Colby needs to drop the character and just be who ever he really is and win fights. Win fights and people will talk start to talk about you ....but if you cry for attention - you will get none.

Thanks for letting us know Jimmy is putting up vids on youtube TheEmperorRises @TheEmperorRises

Chael really got under my skin when I was a stupid teenager and a die hard fan of Silva which made their two fights so much better than they would have been otherwise. After their second fight I became a less stupid teenager and started to like Chael. Chael's act was just so much better and Colby is more like some kid from XBOX Live trying to talk shit

Jimmy Smith needs a podcast. I think he'd do a better fight companion than Broseph.

I think Chael gained a lot of fans from the Jon Jones/UFC 151 situation. That was the moment where he went from the guy talking trash and playing a pro-wrestling type character to actually walking the walk. Yes, he ended up losing (terribly), but he was willing to fight on extreme short notice where many others turned it down (which Jon ended up turning it down himself). Then not too long after, he again offered to fill in for another fight against Shogun. I remember during that time he was always throwing his name in the hat when a fighter pulled out of a bout.

So we learned to be ok with his 'bad guy' persona because he was so game ---- even when the matchups were horrible for him. He's a guy who's not super-skilled in any area other than wrestling, but he'll still fight anyone at any time. Who doesn't appreciate a guy like that? Also, he began working on "UFC Tonight" and proved to be damn good at it.

Personally, I was very much rooting against him and strongly disliked him during the Anderson saga. But now he's turned into one of my favorite voices in the sport. I don't agree with everything, of course, but I always enjoy hearing his takes.

A specific example of where Colby has gone wrong is feuding with the UFC. You can't be a heel if you are feuding with the establishment but you can't be a good guy if you also bootlick another level of authority that half the people hate (Trump). It's wrecking his character.

This is a great point. Part of his shtick was siding with Dana over Tyron and being the guy that the UFC truly wanted as champion. Now he’s going to be hated by fighters and the company. Probably not gonna be successful.

Cheal is witty enough, even if most of his routine is ripped of from 80s and 90 wrestling. He has the one of the most horrible voices on the planet though.

Colby is just a try hard, comes across poorly and is very, very rarely witty.

Like mentioned above Cheal earned a lot of respect with his short notice fights and rarely whinges like a bitch when things don't go his way.

Colby on the other hand is a whinge bag.

I don't like either, Cheal mostly because he is a cheating cunt.

So it works either way.
