After back-to-back stoppage losses to reigning bantamweight champion T.J. Dillashaw, many expected a more conservative Cody Garbrandt to show up at UFC 235.

That appeared to be the case, until Garbrandt clashed heads with opponent Pedro Munhoz after ducking under a high kick.

After falling down from the headbutt, ‘No Love’ sprang back to his feet and started swinging for the fences until Munhoz dropped him with a right hand and finished the fight.

Fans can’t understand why, after two consecutive knockout losses to ex-teammate Dillashaw, Garbrandt was so reckless against Munhoz.

There were a couple if I am remembering correctly.

The first of which is what cut the side of Pedro's head open.
I think there was a second one right after Cody went tard mode and just swinging for the fences.

Saw something at 1:02 of the fight / 0:06 seconds in that vid, but it looks like Cody's jaw hit the top of Pedro's head after he got crumpled with a body shot. Not Pedro's fault imo
I also notice Cody isn't using it to diminish Pedro's win. He was asked what happened amd he gave an answer. As a fight fan I'd rather someone who has the autopilot of swing for the fences instead of turning into a wrestler.

Ok sure.

But what it looked like to me was that he got emotional/excited (yet again) and threw the game plan and fight IQ to the wind.

His chin isn't solid enough anymore to keep up with all the Mountain Dew.

There was plenty of time to slow down and recover from the headbutt. Especially if you're aware enough to point it out to the ref.

I don't see any body shot crumpling - the kick looks like it is blocked and definitely doesn't land clean. It looks far more likely that Cody was moving to avoid the left - which he does - and gets caught by the head.

Whatever it is, it wasn't a 'headbutt' per se, rather a clash of heads inadvertently caused by Cody's movement.

He did the same stupid shit against TJ, twice.

When he was barging around the Octagon chasing Munhoz, I kept saying "this neck tatted fuck is gonna get knocked out unless he puts his god damn hands up."

Agreed, it definitely wasn't intentional. However, while I'm all for hating guys with stupid neck tatts, but we can't hate on Cody for stating a simple fact. He got dropped by a headbutt. Whether or not that actually played any part in the finish - he looked like he'd recovered - we'll never know. Still an epic win by by Pedro.

He really needs different coaching to deal with his psychological tendencies- some of those tendencies have shown to be a weakness and need serious managing if he hopes to improve and continue to compete.

So his autopilot is to swing for the fences as hard as possible? I smell something....

don't think Cody crumpled.
to me it looked like that left was aimed at his head and he tried to duck it.

was it weird to say it, after hearing it so many times over the years?
