But you are right, the Dems love this tactic of relating to their constituents. Rich-as-fuck politicians trying to relate to the urban community.

At least AOC was actually from the area. But it's a bit strange that the only time that side of her comes out is when she is addressing an urban community. She's a chameleon. Just like all politicians - not to be trusted

A lot of people have different voices in different situations. Mine gets more and more cockney the drunker I get. My mum uses a formal voice to answer the phone. It's part of growing up poor and interacting with different class groups and their different expectations.

Or, in her case, it's an attempt to make people think she's still "Jenny from the block"
