With just over a month to go until his highly anticipated bout against Ben Askren, Jorge Masvidal will take on fellow UFC welterweight Anthony Pettis in a jiu-jitsu match on June 15.

The grappling match will take place at DT Promotions in Pensacola, Florida, and has been hyped as a ‘jiu-jitsu superfight’, per MMA Fighting’s Dave Meltzer.

Top UFC middleweight contender Yoel Romero will also compete at the event, but his opponent remains a mystery.

Just three weeks after the Pettis match, Masvidal will take on Askren, the former Bellator and ONE FC welterweight champion, at the blockbuster UFC 239 pay-per-view on July 6. ‘Gamebred’ rocketed up the welterweight ranks after his stunning knockout of…

All I care about is that there is some sort of controversy which would lead to them meeting in the octagon. Would be a fun fight!

I don't see Pettis submitting Masvidal, it'll likely go to judges, Pettis is a little better and more active, but they don't call Jorge "Gamebred" for nothin'.

Remember Jorge was once on the wrong end of the Bellator highlight reel with the unlikely "MMA Submission of the Year" reverse triangle at the hands of Toby Imada, after Toby was getting beaten soundly.
Fantastic comeback and submission, which I'd never seen in mma comp. until then.
Can't really blame Jorge over praising Toby.

I feel like Masvidal takes this. Pettis is a better MMA grappler because he goes to it more, but Jorge has been on the mats at ATT with Conan and previously Liborio forever. Pettis is a fairly new black belt, but Masvidal's been at that level since 2007. I'm picking Masvidal by sub or decision.

It's insanity that the UFC would let Masvidal do this.
It's insane that ufc would let pettis do this. He'll take in too big a breath, his ribs will crack, and pettis vs. Diaz will disappear in a puff of smoke, as will nate diaz entirely because they'll offer him a pay cut with a replacement.
