Two mixed gender guy vs gal attractions eh. I never thought I would see the day.

But then I'm old and no longer with the times. But leave it to Dana White to break new ground like that eh, that man is a fucking pioneer.

Mixed card. I still struggle to see women's mma as a draw. Suarez headlining the prelim card seems odd.

But bam bam, cerrone and cejudo I would pay for I think.

Wish they didn't dilute cards so much

Munhoz-Sterling and Yan-Rivera positioning is fucking strange. If Munhoz-Sterling was the prelim 'main event' it would make some sense, but it's not. Surely the Sterling-Munhoz winner has a better claim to the title than Yan if he wins, and obviously Rivera isn't getting a title shot.

I know there are some people who claim that card positioning doesn't matter but psychologically it does. We have been trained to associate things in a hierarchy. The UFC is telling the audience that the Yan-Rivera fight is more important, which doesn't make any sense.

It's like the fast food industry I guess. Like McDonalds, UFC has arrived at a meat / filler ratio that satisfies a craving for the product while carrying as few costly nutrients as possible and they don't deviate from that formula. Each serving of *UFC is consistent, reliable. Familiar.

Going to be a long day. I plan on leaving for Chicago around 10 AM, checking in to the hotel and relaxing for a few hours before heading to the arena.

Looking forward to several fights on this card, but mostly I want to see Marlon wreck "The King of Cringe". I've grown tired of the lil guy talking about his gold medal. Fingers crossed for Marlon to bring the pain and shut that mouth.

Cowboy vs. Tony is the main fight for me, wish it was a 5 rounder. Long time Cowboy fan here........WAR DONALD

This quote from Dana makes me so nervous:

This weekend is a very big, important fight in that whole division and what’s gonna happen. Then in September the Khabib fight will play out in Abu Dhabi. Then we’ll see what’s next.

I understand it from a business perspective.... you have to balance sport and profit for a long term win. Depending on who wins the Cowboy/Ferguson and Khabib/Dustin fights, the storyline may or may not make sense to do what is the most in line with the sport’s integrity the or the business’ opportunity. There are so many possibilities and Conor’s bankability is such a trump, card in most scenarios.

Personally, I feel we may be in the new “best ever” of the LW division, No matter what happens in terms of wins or losses we have Khabib, Dustin, Conor, Tony, Conor, Gaethje, Al, Barboza, plus people like Lee, Nate, and Pettis who could come back down from 170. Plus the bottom dwellers of the rankings happen to be amazing fighters like Gillespie, Oliviera, Felder, and Vick. Any fight is going to be awesome. For that reason, I lean toward the integrity of the “golden age” of LW and make Conor earn it with at least one win against any of the winners (or losers) of Tony/Donald or Khabib/Dustin.

UFC ceremonial weigh in show was great. Good face-offs and awesome videos for the main, co-main, and true main events. The Donald vs Tony video, face off, and interviews are all awesome! When is the last time the non-title, non-main, or non-co-main event participants got interviewed? Never?? As Nate would say, this is the real money fight right here!

If that video doesn’t start right before the Cowboy/Ferguson promo, jumps to 17:41.

So excited!

Would anyone be surprised if they do Khabib vs Conor 2 or Poirier vs Conor 2, instead of giving Ferguson or Cerrone a title shot?
