First three minutes of the second round was an onslaught. I dont see how anyone at 155 can keep up with Tony's pace. It's either knock him out or get your brains beat in.

Tony is getting older and slower.
He's all the things he's ever been; crafty, tough, well-rounded, and a cardio machine.
I think the first 4 times Khabib and Tony were gonna fight they would've been Tony's fights to lose.
Now is Khabib's best chance.
But if top notch Tony shows, he wins.
Tony imo has been the uncrowned champ(or stripped champ) for a few years, thanks to the Conor show robbing the world of the truth.
It'd be nice if he could get the "belt belt" finally, undefeated for 6 years.
Tony vs. Conor might be an incredible fight.
I hope Cowboy has something going on the side, because he's been taking some beatings for a decade.

tony is about to get fucked by dana .he isnt going to be fighting khabib or conor .you all know how petty and vindictive dana is. tony has been talking shit and its not like he got a legit tko/ko finish here. it was a lackluster ending to a otherwise good fight. dana will make him jump through some hoops now

Tony just
showed weakness Donald has always had.

Pressure.

He is a great fighter cowboy.

But only if his opponent allows him to work at his pace.

We have seen Cerrone wilt to other fighters before.

To his credit he was Game till the end of this one.

He would have took his beating like a champ no doubt.

It's a shame the UFC doesn't know their worth with El Cucuy.

A win streak fighter with sorta corny persona but the kind of skills rarely seen any fight org.

His just unreal in his durability and his ability to adapt even when hurt.

If they screw this guy out of his Title shot it will be another UFC atrocity.

You know it's bad when you come to expect this from them.

That's just the way it is.

EL CUCUY BLESS!

...would have taken...

But to your point, for a long time now, the UFC has steered it so fighters with the best on-camera personality are favoured. But isn't this a bit on Tony and Khabib too? I mean, they did goof up their own match more than once, didn't they?

Tony vs Nate Diaz 5 rounder would be the most awesomest fight if Dana's pussy won't allow Tony/Khabib

imagine the crazyness and slaps and shit talk happening when they are on the feet

plus 10th planet vs Gracie JJ as soon as they hit the ground

Why didn't Ferg get a DQ for assaulting after the bell had clearly rang ?

here is a common misconception in MMA, according to referee Rob Hinds. The bell does not end a round or a fight — the ref does, per rules. It doesn’t matter if strikes come after the bell, only if those strikes were thrown after the referee steps in to stop the action.

“When the bell sounds, whenever that happens that’s just our indication to stop the round,” said Hinds, who is an Association of Boxing Commissions and Combative Sports (ABC) certified trainer of referees and judges. “That’s not the signal for the exact end of the round. We need to make sure we’re in position and everything is in place to stop the action as close to that horn as possible.”

That could add a new perspective to the controversial events during the UFC women’s featherweight title fight between Germaine de Randamie and Holly Holm on Saturday night in the main event of UFC 208 in Brooklyn.

At the end of both the second and third rounds, de Randamie threw punches after the bell that landed. The first transgression, after the second round, wobbled Holm against the cage and was one of the most significant blows of the entire fight.

New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC) referee Todd Anderson did not dock de Randamie any points and de Randamie ended up winning by unanimous decision (48-47, 48-47, 48-47) to become the first UFC women’s 145-pound champion.

Anderson did not seem to give de Randamie a warning about late punches following the second round. He did give her a warning, saying he would take a point next time, after the third round.

Cowboy is one of my favorites

But that crazy Tony took it to him early and often
Tony was the better man by a good margin last night...Such an amazing fighter...that pace is crazy and his defense and skills are insane

Why didn't Ferg get a DQ for assaulting after the bell had clearly rang ?

It was Cowboy's reaction that caused 70% of the backlash.
Tony was sorry & apologetic, both of their bells were ringing throughout the fight.
It was not ill-intended or charged by malice.
Cowboy is beloved, Tony isn't.
Donald's reaction was the major factor.
That and Tony's lack of immediate apology.
And Donald was on 40% queer street before the punch, and 70% after it.
His standing there wasn't only a "wtf", is was a "where am I?", and an "oh yeah, I'm still here, that was late, hey ref, that was late right?".

Had Tony been allowed to walk over, apologize & hug it out, he likely would have and they would've been cool.
And when the fight was stopped, the reaction from the fight world wouldn't nearly be as hate-fueled.
But they are not allowed to have contact at all after the bell mid-fight, either by punch or apology.

There's been some overreaction by fans.
Sometimes it's fueled by a fan favorite being on the receiving end, sometimes it's alcohol-fueled, sometimes it's the result immediately afterward.
This just happened to be the perfect storm.

The right call was made, imo.
I'd watch a rematch certainly, but in no way is it called for based on anything that occured in that fight, other than it being damn entertaining.

They need to DQ someone to deter others from doing it. GDR should have been DQ’d twice for that against Holly.
Why didn't Ferg get a DQ for assaulting after the bell had clearly rang ?
Very poor from the ref. He just shouted break, no effort to actually interrupt the fighters.

Some of the refs get very lazy, they get lured in. They should always physically break the fighters, especially in fights like that where the strikes are fast and unpredictable. You cant just flick your hand up and shout break, that's dumb.
