False flags are real yo

IMHO they happen way more often than not. Yet the MSM never ever ever considers such things to even be in the realm of possibility.

Very frustrating.

This is a very strange one. It doesn't really benefit the US, Saudi, or Iran. It could support some actors inside those states, but its too sophisticated and too stupid all at once. This is unlikely to be a solo group as this would be hard to pull off (assuming put together recently) without state sponsorship.

Also worth noting Shinzo Abe happens to be in Iran today and one of the ships was Japanese. Seems like this was meant to embarrass the regime in Iran or empower some of the hardliners.
Except Abe is friendly with Trump and the closest thing to a conciliatory move from the administration by proxy. Everything to lose and nothing to gain for anyone involved at the top of any of the cast of characters. Only side stories like the hardliners make sense, but how could they get away with it without being exposed? Very unlikely.

I think the goal was to make the current Iranian leadership (not the Ayatollah, other civilian leadership, including intelligence services) look weak and this attack was put in motion either by factions trying to maneuver into political power in Iran or by Saudi or another enemy of Iran (including various terror groups) who have an interest in clowning them. To have a Japanese ship attacked near Iran while the Prime Minister is visiting is pretty obviously an insult. Could also be a group just objecting to Iran/Japan relations. But insofar as Abe was there as a US proxy, this could just be an attempt to inflame the US into attacking Iran. In which case it can only be Saudi or Israel behind it.
