Martin's lack of damage prevents me from giving it a 10-8. But Maia wasn't there to fight at all in the 3rd. I don't think it's an outrageous score.
i think for a 10/8 there should be an asswhipping handed out or sub locked in that comes close to a finish or a clear domination from one of the fighters. the 3rd round was pretty lackluster its and obvious 10/9 for martin but nothing leads me to believe he deserved a 10/8. in the end the right guy won and the score changes nothing so whatev but it is pretty sloppy officiating to have to announce after the fact that they got the score wrong no matter what

Glad to see someone sense the finish instead of 1-2 and moving to take down like it seems so often. That was excellent capitalizing on the moment.

I agree but when you literally run for an entire round and do nothing, the argument can be made that you got dominated even if your opponent just lands a few strikes.

Part of the equation when looking at 10-8 is to what extent the round loser mounted any succesful offense against the winner and Maia certainly fulfilled that part of the 10-8 equation.

I do agree with you that the other part of the equation wasn't met, but I can why the judge did it.
