Thiago Santos is planning to shock the world on July 6, as the heavy-hitting Brazilian slugger believes he has what it takes to hand Jon Jones his first ever knockout loss inside the Octagon at UFC 239.

Speaking to ESPN’s Brett Okamoto in a recent interview, a confident Thiago Santos said he plans to headhunt ‘Bones’ from the opening bell ‘till the last.

“I think everybody loses one day. Everybody gets knocked out one day and July 6 will be his day. Yes of course, this [is] my style. No problem, no problem. I’m prepared for five rounds no problem. Always, doesn’t matter. But I will try [to knock him out] first or second, third, doesn’t matter [which] round. I will try…

It is amazing that after all these years people still think that a fighter is unbeatable. Remember Fedor, Anderson Silva, Wanderlei, Lyoto, Igor, Ronda, Cyborg and many more that were considered unbeatable or had more wins in a row than Jones. The hyperbole of fandom in mma is crazy.

The thing I love about this guy, is he lives up to the tattoo on his chest.
Has hammer, will swing 'em.
Will be exciting while it lasts.
Will be more exciting if one lands.

I agree, but its not entirely crazy. The people you mentioned have created a repetition that we just grow used to. I felt that way about GSP for example. Just keep seeing them win and its a norm. They earn it.

Sure saying they are “unbeatable” is not true, but they earned that reputation one way or another. Enhancement aside, well actually no, more so considering the enhancement on top of talent and physical advantages, Jones is up there. We haven’t seen him really lose. We have seen him in trouble, such as the Cornier 2 fight and the Gus fight, other than that, has a well rounded game. I do not like him, but still get that feeling that the fighter I am rooting for against him has an uphill battle.

Hope Santos pulls it off.

100 percent agree. I just can't see Jones staying unbeaten...time, another fighter, or his own lifestyle will catch up with him.

He is a black belt in BJJ, not sure of his lineage, can't remember him winning via sub, none in the UFC anyway but do remember him getting RNC'd in his debut maybe....

He has decent TDD, but against Jones it might not matter. You have a careful calculated striker, who will work the body legs and head vs head hunter who throws wild and hard.

Jon doesn't need to take Thiago down to beat him.

Beyond the tremendous power I am not overly impressed with Santos. He should lose this fight no matter where it takes place, but I just have a sneaky suspicion he is going to land one flush and shock the world.

Also, I may still be a little high and drunk from last night.

It would be best if jones would lose to a guy like this.it would be a bigger blow to his ego than losing to pretty much anyone other than DC .jones might be over looking guys like this as an easy kill.jone will most likely mangle him and leave him face down on the mat but one day jon will get his too

Santos is a worse human than Jones, believe it or not. Hoping Jones gets the easiest finish of his career.

Being a staunch JBJ hater I don’t think he underestimates anyone any more. If he doesn’t get caught he will systematically shutdown Santos’s game with oblique kicks and by getting him into the clinch. But the beauty of this game is anything can happen...

I’m still praying for an upset.
