Seriously!

It's scary to think of what kind of record they could have this year if they had the full team available for the majority of it.
The fact that they are still up 8 shows how deep that team is.

Based on games back in the wild card races, the Reds are closer to the postseason than the Red Sox are.

They've gotten silly production out of guys like Urshela, Tauchman, and Maybin. The pitching staff doing just enough to get by. They're bad enough to make me nervous during every game but somehow they're finding ways to win.

The Panama reds will not win it this year or any future years....care to wager that they won’t even make it to the series?

They won't even reach the playoffs.
They also don't have a $225,000,000 payroll

I took this pic of Luis Castillo's change-up grip during the broadcast last night..

He gets some great spin on it - like a screwball. Probably has 12" of break.

It's been striking out guys all year long. Last night he punched out 13 of them through 7 innings. Only gave up 3 hits.

Legit Ace.

Reds are 7 back and have a 4 game stint against the division-leading Cubs that starts tonight. This is probably the biggest series the Reds have had in 4 or 5 years. Sweep these turds and Cincy is 3 back with plenty of time left in the season.

The pitching matchups for the series:
Alex Wood vs Cole Hamels
Trevor Bauer vs Yu Darvish
Sonny Gray vs Kyle Hendricks
Luis Castillo vs Jon Lester

Reality: Cubs probably take 3 of 4 and Cincy ends up 9 back and the season is basically over.

Only time I hope for a Reds sweep. If any team and their fans deserve to lose its the scrubs.

Went to bed angry last night

Bases loaded. 2 outs. Full count. Tie game. Joey Votto goes down looking.

Swing the fucking bat you stubborn piece of shit.

He has to lead the league in called 3rd strikes. Criticizing Votto on his approach sounds sacrilegious, but he needs to be more aggressive up there.

Reds rookie, Aristides Aquino, has been absolutely blistering the baseball.

He had a homer last night with an exit velocity of 118.3 which is tied with Pete Alonso and Gary Sanchez as the hardest hit homer this season.

He also gunned down Anthony Rizzo at 2nd base with a 101.5 mph throw from the outfield - the fastest recorded throw from the outfield this season.

In 7 games he has a slash of .429/.455/.905 with 3 bombs. Aquino was called up when Puig was traded to Cleveland for Trevor Bauer.

Aquino hit another one last night.
That's 4 in 8 games. He's hitting .417 with 10 RBI.
I'm sure the pitchers will figure him out, but right now he looks like a legit star in the making.

He's not just having a good week, either. At AAA he was hitting .299 with 28 HRs in 78 games before he got called up.

Trevor Bauer looked like Trevor Bauer in last night's win over the Scrubs: 7 innings. 3 Hits. 1 Run. 11 Ks.

Aquino just hit another one.

That's 5 in his first 10 games.
4 games in a row with a HR.

Jose Fernandez

Too soon?
Reds ace Luis Castillo was in Miami's organization as well. He didn't have any major league experience though. He was part of the Dan Straily trade.

I'm not going to hold that one against them though. Minor league players are constantly being traded. Some work out. Some don't.
