Agreed. This is a story that will have to play out over a few years before we will know for sure.

The guy really put himself into a good position. He's probably looking at another 10 million to fight again if he plays the right cards. ESPN+ and Disney are looking for content and are driving more things to streaming service. Conor being such a huge draw is in the right place to capitalize on it.

So even if he did blow all of his money, there are some fat paychecks in front of him. I think he will be OK in the long run even if he does piss away a lot of money. I think he is much smarter than Floyd.
if he ever fights again

Conor still moves the needle, this thread is exhibit A...dude has talent and charisma, and a really ugly side as well

Should fight again while he still has a big following/buzz...problem is he is 50/50 against most of the top 5 and that is without ring rust

He decided to toss his momentum aside for mayweather and he may never regain it...that is my opinion

made tons of $$$

the real question is has the guy been training regularly for the last couple years or has he been holed iup smoking crack? i hope at this point he is at home with his wife and kids but for a wile he was living a dope fiend life and raping chicks. how much of a toll has this taken on him? is he the same fighter .if he is not training at top level gyms on a regular basis his skills will be on the decline. last fight he got mangled by khabib, before that floyd pieced him up. he could come back and make a pile of money but the guy who comes back isnt going to be prime 2015 pool noodle and grab ass conor. he is likely to get smeshed by khabib again . tony is going to wear his ass out with crazy pace.he would have to fight someone down the ladder and take a fight vs cerrone if he wants to come back and get a win. there is some unanswered questions with conor.i dont see kavanaugh posting pics of him in the gym . i assume he could take a long ass fight camp and whip himself back in to shape but whoever they are going to match him up against never stopped training

He has definitely been training, but as you said coke and drink will fuck his performance up no matter how hard he is training.

Aldo rematch is the rumor, at 155.

At this stage he is praying Poirier beats Khabib, the UFC will want him to have a win before he goes back in the mix for the belt, would be fucking ridiculous to put him in to a title shot now.

Either way, pool noodle or not, 155 has a lot of nightmare matchups for him and he would be 50/50 against half of the top 10, the rest have clear advantages over him.

He had his purple patch, it was at 145, starving himself to crackhead proportions, at 155 he wont ever replicate that, his power doesn't carry and his cardio and strength don't match up to guys his own size and bigger.

Someone on the peripheral of my circle of friends yes, me no, apart from nearly capsising a boat full of kids I was in brining out of a harbor in my town.

My main reason for not wanting him to be glorified and used as a representative of my country is because he has been a scumbag since he made some money.

He paints the Irish and MMAists in this country with a negative stroke.
Your country was known for leprechauns, alcohol-related hooliganism, and high rates of domestic violence before Conor.

He has clearly improved Ireland's image by leaps and bounds.

you got to wonder how good conor could have been if he had trained at a better gym with a real ufc level team and not stayed home with a cage warriors level team who produced such legends of the sport as artem the russian bot lobov . i dont know that tri star would have let him train there with all the drama and shenanigans that were going on. firaz seems like he is 10 levels above that but winklejohn would have taken him in to his cocaine cartel no problem

Ireland also has a low domestic violence rate.

Our boxers were and still are higly regarded on the world stage, especially on the ammy scene. Known as stoic warriors, the likes of McCullough, Collins, etc

Thanks to the likes of McGregor combat athletes from this country are known as disrespectful mouthpieces, that resort to desperate tactics when out matched. Who wilt and quit when the going gets tough.

He is the exact opposite of everything I mentioned.
An impending case for sodomy rape, a drunken assault this year, promoting and glorifying drinking to the youth of the country. Loud mouth, no class, no grit, no heart.

He is playing a crass bully boy character, a superficial one that glorifies style over substance and when the going gets tough quits.

He is exactly what you mentioned and worse.

What about when he trained his ass off and beat Nate Diaz in the rematch?

What about when he became the first two-division champion in history?

I've met plastic paddies in Boston who are better representatives of Ireland than you are...

Respect where it is due, he took the blueprint for Diaz, after he realised he couldn't hang with him in a straight scrap, and narrowly edged him in a rematch.

Well he wasn't, anybody who was watching the sport the last 20 years knows that.

That said his FW run, although carefully handled by the matchmakers, was excellent all the same, he took his opportunites in both hands and ran with them. Credit where it is due.

I supported him all the way to Aldo, the complete bias towards him from the company in the build up was horseshit though and effected Aldo badly.

He was beaten before he got in the cage, partly due to McGregor but Dana the promotion and the Furrytits brothers made no mistakes in showing everybody invloved who they wanted to win, Aldo included.

Alverez was a good win as well, probably the best in his career.

He sold out to Floyd Maywether, made an absolute joke of himself and got made a fool of in the ring.

The guy is a great fighter, I respect that, I don't respect the way he represents my country and I don't respect the favouritisim the company showed towards him.

You have no idea what it means to be Irish.
