People are quick to call Bonnar vs Griffin the fight that "saved the UFC"

But if it wasn't for Ken and Titos rivalry we might not have even made ot that far.

It was so silly...and the fights weren't even good
My buddy thought Tito was the best 205 eva....I was watching Pride so I was like not so fast my friend

Fights were almost non events. The hype was real though.

Pride brought me on board, Igor was the man, when I first saw his KO on Bueno I was hooked.

yeah, I always thought the Bonnar-Griffin story was a bit apocryphal, or at least exaggerated

They fought their hearts out, massive respect but definitely.

I suppose if it was the first big fight card you saw it would have a bigger impact, for me it was 2 lower skilled guys winging shit at each other.

Was good to watch but I was more interested in Ken vs Franklin and Chuck vs Randy on the next card.

The fact that Griffin low kicked his way to a belt still boggles my mind.

The version of events popularized by UFC is just a way for DFW to claim that he was somehow responsible for the success of the UFC.

"Responsible" beyond have rich friends through his boxer-cize class.

man, if only Ken had literally knocked Tito's hair black. The 'living death chair kick' moment still stands as one of the most hilarious in MMA history.
The reaction is funny but what's also funny is that people to this day think they are being clever when they mock that "Beat you into a living death" line, when they're actually being retards. It's a silly, shitty threat, but it also makes perfect sense. The phrase can even be found in Shakespeare and any non-spastic who understands that not all phrases are completely literal would know basically what is meant by it.

Yet when you say "I'm going to fuck you up" the geniuses who mock that line probably don't even blink.

Chuck Tito?

Forme it's bisping and bendo.

That thing went on for years and was culminated in the finest fashion, the count defends the belt and retires his nemesis at the same time. It was beautiful.
Right fighter, wrong rivalry.

Hendo and Bisping never really disliked each other. Although Bisping won the rematch on points (rightfully so), he still got beat up.

Rockhold v Bisping is a genuine rivalry. Bisping utterly humiliated him in the 2nd fight. He won the shit talk prior to the fight, Conceive, Believe, Achieve is actually a catchphrase now. He KO'd him in the first round during the fight. The post fight presser for that fight is the stuff of legend, Bisping utterly dismantled Rockhold so badly there hasn't been a post fight press conference in that format since.

His best win by a country mile, build up and post fight presser were fucking hilarious as well.

Didn't Dana want it to be about him at first, looking for a fight style.

He did manage to convince the 2 lads to keep throwing money at the company, can't take that away from him.
