Good or no good? I have a microfiber couch starting to ugly out. I would like to replace it with maybe leather but worried if the cats might do damage. They have never torn furniture up so maybe my fears are silly?

My accountant not Robbie Hart @Ricky Bobby , has a theory about furniture. He says to buy cheap and replace it after a few years. My first wife was a designer and we had some really nice stuff. It lasts forever and doesn't wear out. People get tired of it because it lasts so long. It's so expensive you don't want to get rid of it. Hence his theory to buy cheap. I'm kind of annoyed I maybe got 5 years out of this.

Leather or fabric with cats?

one of mine scratches wood and the prefers other fabric

Both are smart enough to get the hint when I yell at em for scratching shit they shouldn't...or from a couple spritzes from a spray bottle...I go set them on their proper scratching post after I bust their balls and they get the hint

Microfiber is basically off their menu/options....Had a leather chair and the fabric scratcher did like to poke holes in it

I think micro hides the punctures better also

good luck

lol No I'm not a barbarian. They are pretty good. They will tear up carpet if a door is closed. They have tore open dry food bags even though their bowls are full. My innocent one has eaten some shoes with black rubber soles but so far not furniture. I don't have anything leather where the cats are so I don't know for sure if they will behave. I would have a shit fit if they tore new stuff up.

TLDR; I've had really really nice furniture that lasted too long but because it cost so much money I didn't like getting rid of it. My furniture cost lots of money, it was very very expensive. I told this to my accountant who helps manage all my expensive money.

No idea on cats but pottery barn and west elm all day. it might cost three times as much and you might want to trade it out at twice as long media costs more per year to keep... But it all ages so much better than the cheap stuff. And it looks nicer from day one until the end.

I will never buy another cheap couch or chairs after having these mofos custom make me a couch from the material and specs I simple chose on the website.

I don't have behavioral issues with my cat. I have a leather couch and he just doesn't scratch it. I beat his ass when he was young so he would always have a healthy mix of fear and subordinance towards me.

My hard work early on has undoubtedly paid off.

I got everything at cost too. Don’t leave that part out.

The really nice sectional was custom from Carsons of High Point. I think we are going to move after my son goes to college. Probably going to go cheap again until the move. I can’t see buying something expensive and not having it work in a couple years.

i've resigned myself to mostly disposable furniture until the kids move out.

then I'm going to get nice stuff and keep the plastic on it until I die.

I explained this exact same thing to my cats.

And so far no claw marks on the furniture.

Make sure you have scratching posts around the furniture and you’ll have less of an issue.

I only had one cat that liked to scratch at the leather... as soon as we got the post, he stopped.
