Kron Gracie Returns Against Cub Swanson At October’s UFC Fight Night Tampa
6 hours ago Ross Markey

Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports
Grappling sensation Kron Gracie makes his second Octagon walk this October.
A featherweight clash between one-time perennial contender Cub Swanson and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu star Kron Gracie has been sealed for October’s UFC Fight Night Tampa. California native Swanson is currently on a four-fight slide, with his most recent win coming in early 2017, while Gracie looks to remain undefeated in his five-fight professional career after a successful Octagon debut at the beginning of the year.

Dropping losses to Shane Burgos, Frankie Edgar and grapplers Renato Moicano and Brian Ortega in his last four Octagon walks, a match up with yet another grappling ace not only represents a gigantic hurdle for Swanson, but also a majorly important match up in terms of his future in the promotion. The 35-year-old has notoriously struggled when pitted with high-level Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioners in the past and has become somewhat of a stepping stone at 145 pounds. A pairing with Brazil’s Gracie is a dangerous commitment to make.

Making his Octagon bow in impressive fashion in February, the son of legendary Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu pioneer Rickson Gracie, made good on his UFC call. Earning a first-round rear-naked choke victory after a splendid back take of Alex Caceres, Kron moved to 5-0 as a professional. Honing his craft alongside recent UFC 241 big winner Nate Diaz at Cesar Gracie Jiu-Jitsu in California, Kron outlined his intention to remain active throughout the year. Kron has finished all five of his opponents, including a submission of former UFC featherweight Tatsuya Kawajiri in RIZIN. Gracie’s

submission grappling record is also quite impressive, with the 31-year-old holding victories over Garry Tonon, Shinya Aoki, UFC lightweight Beniel Dariush, and compatriot Otávio Souza to name a few.

UFC Fight Night Tampa takes place on October 12th. from the Amalie Arena, with a potential strawweight title eliminator between former division best Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Michelle Waterson confirmed to headline the Florida event.

Oooo nice!

Big test for Kron - Cub is no walk in the park and the perfect matchup to see just how far Kron can go.

Finally a good match making decision.

I remember his post fight interview after that 8 second win when he said he was gonna buy his mom a bed with wings lol
That was good shit. I wasn't a fan of his when he was fighting in Finland but he has been winning me over.

They're bringing Kron along pretty fast. Hopefully he won't repeat Roger's missteps. Demian or Jacare are smarter careers to follow.

Kron looks the part but thats a serious 2nd fight in the octagon, few steps up from Bruce Leroy anyway.

Although Cub hasn't looked great in a while and has been choked a few times in recent memory.

I looks like i'm the only one thinking this is a bad matchup for Kron, Cub has a above average stand up game, unless Kron can get him to the ground real fast he's gonna get lit up.
I respect the challenge Kron is taking but this is pretty crazy for a second fight in the octagon.

I'm with you. Too soon for Kron. Cub has lots of experience and will get the win.
