If you want us to take the 'founder' seriously, I would assume so.
I don't take anyone who says "climate change is a scam" seriously.

But when you claim to be a champion of the environment but oppose logging and nuclear energy, well, that kind of speaks for itself.

I didnt realize logging was environmentally friendly.

Do you think logging and clear cutting are the same thing?
Very aware. I grew up in northern BC. If done ethically, it can benefit the forest and environment. If done based off greed, it can be very damaging.

Not all logging practices are environmentally friendly, even if it is not a clear cut. To state logging is environmentally friendly is misleading as stating logging contributes to climate change.

I never said logging was across the board environmentally friendly. I was simply pointing out that an "environmental" group stating categorically that it's bad is false.

If we get mired down in semantics and subjective definitions, charges of being "environmentally unfriendly" can be levied against practically any practices we do as a society.
I'm sure someone has made this comparison already but it's very reminiscent of The War on Terror- whatever elements of truth there may be to some core events and effects, they are being greatly conflated with exaggerated scare tactics. And for what, higher taxes?

I hate clear cuts

on a few of my local river floats sections of hills occasionally get cleared from ridge to low point, such a bummer

Trees grow very fast here but it is hard to watch...I think they should leave a small percentage of the tall ones to provide habitat and shade for the hillside

He's one of the founders

The Don't Make a Wave Committee (DMWC) was formed in January 1970 by Dorothy and Irving Stowe, Ben Metcalfe, Marie and Jim Bohlen, Paul Cote, and Bob Hunter and incorporated in October 1970. The Committee had formed to plan opposition to the testing of a one megaton hydrogen bomb in 1969 by the United States Atomic Energy Commission on Amchitka Island in the Aleutians.

In 1971, Moore joined the committee as a member of the crew of the Greenpeace, a chartered fishing boat originally named the Phyllis Cormack which the Committee sent across the North Pacific to draw attention to the US testing of a 5 megaton bomb planned for September of that year.

As Greenpeace co-founder Bob Hunter wrote, "Moore was quickly accepted into the inner circle on the basis of his scientific background, his reputation [as an environmental activist], and his ability to inject practical, no-nonsense insights into the discussions."

In May 1971, Moore traveled to Alaska with Jim Bohlen, representing the DMWC in US Atomic Energy Commission hearings. Moore attended DMWC meetings, and was
part of the committee when its name was changed to the Greenpeace Foundation.

Maybe there is some substance to this climate change bullshit after all. I usually use a roll on deodorant when I get out of the shower (Kenneth Cole, black if your wondering) bit today I used axe something or other , because they variety is the spice of life. And what do you know, I walk outside and it's like I transported to Africa. Pretty sure it was me using axe that did it.

If you look into it the 97% is scientists and not climatologists. A lot of the people on the IPCC aren't climate scientists by training.
This in no way changes the fact that people still go way out of their way to agree with a tiny minority of climatologists, scientists in general, and 21st century scientific literature on this.

It's endlessly frustrating and even a minority chance of all this would be worth making radical changes to mitigate the rise of CO2 levels, but everything points to it being far greater than a minority chance.

I remember reading some stuff a little while ago that pointed out that when they started specifically polling climate scientists the unanimity started to go away too.

It's endlessly frustrating and even a minority chance of all this would be worth making radical changes to mitigate the rise of CO2 levels, but everything points to it being far greater than a minority chance.
We already have readily available power production that produces zero emissions, and instead of using it, we're trying to develop new technologies.

lots of efficient tech is held back in the name of the almighty dollar...pretty sad but $$ talks, or silences
