Nurmagomedov will make more than three times the amount of money from fighting Dustin Poirier at UFC 242 than he did against Conor McGregor at UFC 229.

The pair meet in Abu Dhabi on Saturday in a bid to find out who is the true UFC lightweight champion.

It will be the Russian’s first time in the octagon since his comprehensive victory over Conor McGregor last November in Las Vegas.

Speaking to TASS, Khabib’s father, Abdulmanap, revealed his son will make more than three times the $2million he took home from UFC 229 where he forced McGregor to submit.

"We’ll make 3 to 3.5 [times] more [than the last time],” he explained.

“We aren’t fighting for a small change, we know what we’re worth."

“[$2m] is not enough for us, because we are the best now. We’ve beaten the best, and we are ready to fight the best.

“We are popular, we know that. When we’ll enter the arena, you’ll see the reaction to us, and reaction to Poirier."

Also team Khabib.

I don't fight for the money. I fight for my legacy. I fight for history. I fight for my people.

Good, hes a "superstar" according to Dana, he should be getting paid, with the death of PPV points his purse should be a lot fatter.

Which is why he's getting a higher base pay. The ESPN ppv deal, an overseas event that starts at 2 pm on the east coast, and not fighting Conor will all affect the number of buys for this event.

UFC 229 did 2.4 million buys. UFC 242 won't break 500k.

this ufc event is made just for Khabib, a Muslim fighter headlining a fight in Muslim country.

^probably, the card is crap besides Khabib / Poirer
It would do 500k under the old PPV system. But not with the ESPN deal

it will draw major viewers in russia and dagestan but they generally crowd 75 people around a 21 inch tv so that may effect the numbers
They also don't charge as much for the PPV

I know this is an exaggerated joke but there's a lot of truth in it.

Russia is a dirt poor country and has a lower GDP than Canada and basically the same as Australia, a country that it has more than 6x the population of. They don't shell out 70 US dollars to watch fights.

While Khabib talks up a Russian event as some massive deal, Whittaker-Adesanya for example will earn the UFC way more money just off Australian PPV buys than Khabib-Conor would even get close to in Russian TV rights. So it would be dumb to do that fight anywhere other than the US unless Conor's rape case is preventing a visa.
