Part of the reason Georges St-Pierre decided to retire earlier this year was due to the lack of truly compelling match-ups for him in the UFC.

One fight that did pique St-Pierre’s interest, however, was a potential mega-money bout with undefeated UFC lightweight champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Both St-Pierre and Nurmagomedov expressed a mutual interest in the fight but, according to ‘Rush’, the UFC simply wouldn’t play ball.

“I am retired,” St-Pierre said in a recent interview with DAZN’s Robin Black, per MMA Fighting’s Jed Meshew. “I retired because I didn’t want to go back and do the same thing over and over again. Taking a fight takes a lot…

This is a fight that interests me. Think I would have to bet GSP if it were to happen, but I don’t see it if Khabib is saying 155 or nothing.

I’m in at 170, but otherwise, what’s the point?

Khabib struggles to make the weight and may be more aggressive at 170

Didn’t read the article, as I rarely do but I have me opinion

why would they want him to possibly win and not defend his belt?

He broke his word to the UFC that he would defend the MW belt too - the nerve on him to expect they'd let him do it again.

The annoying part is that this fight doesn't even need a belt. Who gives a fuck about a trinket when the point is just to see which GOAT contender is better? Just make it a catchweight fight.

Honestly I really doubt it'd be for a title. Either way WME-UFC focuses on the short term in the extreme. It'd be gigantic payday for everyone, possibly enough to offset the money lost down the road if Khabib loses, and I'd give Khabib even odds.

But I don’t think this fight would have to be for a title, as 170 is where you wanna make it, though current UFC being supreme fucktards they might make it for an Interim Belt anyway.

agree, but if it's a contracted fight I'm sure both get a shitload more for "Title Fight".

would make a lot of money at catchweight, but would probably have to renegotiate. (assuming GSP is still under contract)

Georges St-Pierre says contractually he must defend middleweight title if he beats Michael Bisping

GSP: “I have to defend my title,” St-Pierre said. “It’s written in my contract. I have to defend my title if I win.”

Case Closed you cherry picking son of a pancake!

GSP trying to protect his legacy - his image - his brand by cherry picking favorable matchups he feels he has a chance of winning.

He ducked the Welter Weight Division when Woodley was on top.

Lightning struck / Bisping pulled off the ultimate upset knocking out Rockhold making room for GSP to slide into an Instant Title shot against Bisping.

GSP managed to take out Bisping but vacated the title immediately not because of the sore-clitoris-itis but because he knew he didn’t want anything to do with Whittaker / Romero / Rockhold.

Magically he heals up and wants a shot at a smaller Khabib ...

GSP would absolutely beat the brakes off Khabib.
I think prime GSP would too, but age is a big factor.

People act is if Khabib's wrestling is unstoppable, but we've seen him get outwrestled by Gleison Tibau. And who is the best wrestler he's beaten? Al Iaquinta? RDA? Hardly on the level of Koscheck or a roided out Johnny Hendricks.

Logic says GSP keeps it standing and jabs his eyes out of their sockets.

Age is a factor is the key there...

In the Bisping fight GSP was gassing and I believe if the fight had gone into the 4th or 5th Ping-Ping would have got the finish.

Make Khabib vs GSP a Non Title fight preventing GSP from trying to cherry pick another title and let’s see how the fight goes down ...I’d put money down on Khabib, at this point of their careers Khabib will have the better cardio unless GSP contacts his old Drug King pin buddy and gets some EPO.

Ain't nobody scared of Rockhold, GSP would've pieced him up...... Now he DEFINITELY didn't want any of that Whittaker, Gastelum, Jacare, Romero, or Stylebender smoke

I’d disagree on the Luke Rockhold comment. Bisping Vs GSP went down November 4th 2017.

At the time of November 4th 2017 Luke was 16-3 with a loss in his 2nd pro fight to Tony Rubalcava in 2007 - after that he only lost to a Blown up TRT/HGH Vitor and than the loss to Bisping that most fans at the time considered more of a fluke.

Rockhold was still considered one of the best Middleweights in the World - during his 16-3 run he had notable wins over Machida -Jacare - Weidman - David Branch - Costas Philippou - Keith Jardine - Tim Kennedy - Michael Bisping and Tim Boetsch.

When GSP beat Ping-Ping I’d argue he didn’t want anything to do wih Luke along with the others you named ...

Also let’s not forget Anderson Silva had been gunning for a GSP for years and of course GSP ducked that fight as well...

Cause fook GSP.. if he wins, he vacates the titles just like he did at 185.

No one wants you to win a belt and retire GSP.

This is why I ALWAYS say that belts are bullshit. Everyone would love this fight and it might be bigger than a Conor/Diaz or Conor/Khabib fight but they won't do it because of a belt.

It should just be tourneys all the time and NO BELTS!!!

I love how mad you get when trying to discredit GSP. He's the best. Deal with it.
