I need actual aerobic rather than joining a Gracie gym or going for a run apparently.

I bought a Wii Fit board for at home so I'll start that tomorrow, I have a bike so hopefully that will help with general fitness but I am so out of shape it's embarrassing. I played beach volleyball last week and gassed out about 30 minutes in.

Enjoy the rapid progress in the the beginning !

and if you're out of shape don't overdo it at the start.

I've also managed a diet of Haagen Dazs for the last few weeks so I've gone from being pretty underweight to catching a look at myself in a hotel mirror this morning feeling horrified.

I haven't been "fit" in years so you telling me I'll enjoy the early progress...scary.

Feel vigorous and proud, instead ;)

Don't "push your limit" in the first weeks, rather prepare the body for the upcoming training. Don't eat too little. Don't get sick in the first weeks. Do some stretching after the sessions. might as well throw in some pushups then, as well.

I've gone from nearly two years of quite often 300 calories a day 5 days a week to now eating everything in sight so I'm in no danger of eating too little.
Pushups are off the table right now.

Right. For example, just try to get on the bike a few times / week for a few weeks. When you're body is used to it, start tracking time and distance. Meaning, either try to increase the number of miles / week or do the same number of miles in a progressively shorter amount of time.

Don't beat yourself up if progress isn't completely linear. A lot of factors can impact progress. As long you keep at it and the general trend shows improvement, then you're doing a great job.

Ok. I'm medically in need of aerobic training rather than general fitness. As much as I really would sit on my ass and do neither, it's the aerobic fitness I'm in need of right now apparently. Much to my detriment I can't get on with joining a class so I need something on my own.

Yeah alright, lads.
I blanched at the word "aerobic" but my doctor is so fucking hot it took a while to sink in that he meant a different kind of "fitness".

My mom was a licensed instructor for over 30 years, she taught seniors.
I remember thinking it was laughable.

One day, around 12yo, I gave it a go with the class and almost died.

I'd say find a senior citizens center and join the gals; it'd not only be good for your heart, but your soul.
People that've seen & done it all can make an invaluable impact on one's life.

I know that this is a source of SS is old and her knees are shot and she's about to blow a hip getting off the sofa, but for once I'm being actual serious.

Belt up, fucknut. We had a discussion about you didn't get slapped about during your formative years enough didn't we?

Im in the same boat as you. Been grinding with work last few years but getting back to it finally. Dont burn yourself out early, which is the problem I faced the last two times I attempted to make fitness my first priority again. Cause it's fun to go hard

This time I'm taking it slower and waiting until I'm fit enough to get after it, and truly hunt the endorphines

I'm in phase two right now. Since they closed the gym I go to, I just bought this last night lol (it wasn't the most expensive marcy one on amazon, but it has a pullup bar which is essential to fitness. One of the best exercises by far. Up there with squat, deadlift and bench imo

fitness tracker (wristwatch) helps. Keeps you moving and helps you identify things that are screwing with your sleep.

I know the feeling. I thought I was in good shape since I've been lifting the past month or so.

I picked up my skateboard for the first time in 5-6 years and it turns out I'm not as limber as I once was and my cardio is Shot.

Need throw in some extra cardio sessions after my lifts.

Hang about, fella. Isn't squirty cream defeating the object of getting in shape?!

I can barely lift myself off the couch so I'm not going down that route but I really admire anyone who's gone hell for leather to make a difference.

That's a really good point. My sleep's been fucked for years now. I finally bit the bullet and started buying edibles but I can't keep up with that for the rest of my life.
