I'm pretty out of touch with video games these days and haven't had a gaming system in years...but man that looks fun!

$20 to buy on Steam isn't too bad, but I'd have to buy a controller too. And I don't really know what Steam is either hah. Is that just an online based gaming system?

Have you been playing? I like how there is various line options and side trails, games where you can wander about are fun.
Way better video. No talking and this dudes good

I’ve not yet played it, it just came out the other day. Likely will pick it up this week.

Steams free on pc, it’s just a front end loader for games. I’m sure this game wouldn’t need much for pc specs to run but steam will tell you if your computer could handle it. You can get a controller for 10-15 bucks.

Cool man, let me know what you think of it. Looks pretty cool. I haven't been excited about a game for a while, but this one has caught my interest ;)

I think my PC could handle it, I just got a new one for work a few months ago and it is built up pretty well. I'm also on GoogleFiber at work and home, so hopefully that could run without lag.

Thanks Pony!

Snows almost all gone, bikes going in for tuning next week. Can you guys recommend me some roof racks for bikes? Basically fork mount vs tires mount is my issue. Fork mount is far cheaper but not nearly as practical it seems.

I use a SeaSucker but they're definitely not cheap. It works for our gravel bikes with 12mm thru axles though I'm not sure if it would work with 15mm, though they may have updated the fork mounts since we have a VERY old version (the first version they ever released years ago).

SeaSucker

I have the roof rack system already in place. I'll looking to buy bike and snowboard racks. You find the fork mount system not annoying to deal with? For your road bikes can you remove front tire without deflating tires or opening up calipers? Nice setup btw.

I agree with you in that I'd prefer a rack that doesn't require the wheel to come off. Not a huge deal, but one less thing to worry about with hydraulic disc brakes. If you do get a fork mount, be sure to use the caliper spacer on your front brake while loading/unloading and traveling.

I don't have many opinions on roof racks as all racks I use are for a truck. Would you consider a hitch mount instead of roof? I find it easier for loading/unloading. Roof racks have their advantages too though.

As far as brands go, I like Thule, Kuat, and Yakima. Yakima may be the one that you pay the most for the "name" though. They all three make great racks though. All three of these brands should have roof rack and hitch mount.

I'm leaning towards fork mount as they are half the price and I'll need two. My main concern is finding one that has a 9mm hitch pin as well as a 15mm so I can alternate between road and MTN bikes. If I need to buy two completely different setups setups then I'll just buck up for a tire mount system and that'll cover everything. Hitch Mount won't work for me. I had a hidden hitch on it before and backing out of steep driveway and stuff I'd bottom out. I removed it before last summer and have lowered my wagon down 2" too. Plus the back hatch wouldn't be as accessable and so on. I'm ok with roof Mount. I anticipated this when I sold my Tacoma.

Yeah, I hear ya. They do make racks that swing down so you can use the hatch, but if you’re too low and bottom out a hitch mount might not be the best way to go for you. Taking the wheel off isn’t that big of a deal, just make sure not to squeeze your brake levers without the wheel/rotor on. Do you have the little plastic spacers to shove between the brake pads when the wheel is off? You don’t want to get to the trail and find out you need a bleed. I’ve seen people do it a few times where the accidentally squeeze the lever (without a spacer) while loading or unloading. If you over-throw your calipers they can get stuck and you won’t be able to get your wheel on. The Spacers are cheap insurance.

You can buy adapters to work with your 15mm, they just clamp on to the standard skewer for your road fork. Extra $30 or so.

I probably have one at home if you want to see a pic of the adapter.

I have one of those calipers spacers so I'll be good there. Could you post a picture of your 15mm adapter please? You know the brand so I can search to buy? Found this guys on sale just now, probably buy.

La Paix @BirdWatcher

here is what the adapter looks like. If a rack works with your road fork, just clamp this on and then it works for your mountain bike

If you have hydraulic disc brakes, they should have come with spacers similar to this. Good idea to use with the wheel off. If your brakes aren’t hydraulic, don’t need to bother

so that pic of the adapter I posted above would just clamp down using the skewer on the rack shown in the link you posted. Easy peasy. Clamp it down tight and you’re all good.

If you already have rails in your car, that rack setup you found on chain reaction seems pretty cost efficient

racks are so damn expensive now. I mostly just use a $90 tailgate pad of these days.

Appreciate the pics and info bud, thanks. Once I get it I'll post a photo with bikes on :)

Hey you ever see locking hitch pins for that stuff? Any other way to keep them locked?

they make locking skewers, but those only lock the adapter to your rack. But it would work for locking your road bikes.

Universal QR Locking Skewer

You may still want a cable or something if you’re worried about someone yanking your mtb bike.

Correct, it hasn't really been an issue. My road bike has disc brakes (12mm thru axles) while my wife's road bike has calipers (Shimano 105) that has an option to open the calipers up a bit more to remove the tire without much fuss (never have I needed to adjust the pressure to remove the tires). Both of our gravel bikes have disc brakes so they both work like my road bike with 12mm thru axles.

Admittedly it's a little bit of work to remove wheels, mount the bikes then put the front wheels in the trunk etc etc. But I almost prefer that since it's easier to work with the bikes on the roof when the front wheel is removed. My next car will be a CX-5 and being that it has a bit more height than my Mazda3 did I think I'm going to opt for a hitch rack so I don't have to worry about clearance etc. :p

looking great man! Love the saddle and handlebar tape.

I’m currently building a battering ram and handlebar mounted semiautomatic .40 caliber on my big wheel in case the zombie shit gets weird ;)

Thanks. I'm really happy that my metal and leather idea worked out. I signed up to a 95kms race in July, first event for me so I'm hoping it rides as good as it looks. I'll need a few months to break the seat in but from what I've read it'll last a lifetime time. Still need to find some good bike racks for my car though. Shits pricey for roof racks that you can leave wheels on.

I haven't stirred this thread up for a while.....

Any of you dudes been out riding? Is it biking season yet? La Paix @Nuk Soo Kow Onetrickpony @Onetrickpony lueVelvet @lueVelvet

This year has been bonkers with the pandemic shit, and this has also been by far the busiest we've ever been with our business. So I haven't been riding as much as I'd like, but I've still been getting out.

We are heading out to Colorado next week for my best friends wedding. It's kind of a quick trip, but I will get a couple of rides in while I am there. We are also going to stop at Palo Duro Canyon (known as Texas' Grand Canyon) on the way back for a couple of days. Supposed to have some really good trail and scenery, so I'm looking forward to checking that out.

I had a pretty good ride this Sunday, went out and hit a bunch of climbs trying to prepare for Colorado lol. The heat is finally breaking here, so it is getting more pleasant to be out. This is a common spot to stop and have a quick mid-ride puff. It is located up on a 200 foot tall limestone bluff looking down over the creek.

Got in some great rides while I was in Colorado! The first ride we did was about starts with about 4.5 miles of a climb that gains about 2100 feet. Brutal way to start, but I EARNED that downhill! Also stopped at Palo Duro Canyon on the way back to Texas. Had a great ride there. It has the red sandstone, looks way more like Arizona or Utah instead of Texas.

La Paix @Nuk Soo Kow you hitting the trails at all yet this year?

The fine group of men I rode with. One of these dudes rode a fat tire hard tail up to the top. Stud!

Good to see one of us still making the effort this year. Those photos look great. How warm is it? I’ve spent most of my free time fishing this year. I got out maybe five times in the trails, lots of cycling though.
When I was in CO it was in the 50s and 60s for the rides, so it was perfect. Palo Duro was still hot. It was pretty much full sun exposure and low 90s. Lots of water required. Would be way nicer out there over the winter months.

I've been seeing your fishing posts in response to Sex Chickens failures lol

Where you at MBers?

Let's discuss gear, trails, and brag to each other about how awesome our bikes are.

I started seriously mountain biking in 1993, and the sport has consumed me from day 1. It's been one hell of a fun sport to evolve with, both with my personal progression as a rider and also the advancement in technology.

Let's get started. Here is my current rig, a murdered out Turner Sultan.

Lol where you get that bike . The bottom of a cereal box ?
