A) Name a worse card overall.

B) Name a worse intact (didn't lose main or co-main on short notice) PPV card.

The only one I can think of is UFC 234 (because I was there). That satisfies part A but not part B.

Remember, this is the most meaningless headliner for a card we've ever had by a mile. It's two guys who are 0-2 in their last two professional fights in a non-title fight. We've never had anything close to that situation for a PPV headliner. This main card also has 2 throwaway female fights on it.

Also, if you say UFC 72, you're wrong (just). At least Franklin and Okami were on win streaks and both fighting to be the clear No.1 contender. Undercard was better too, as awful as it was.

Card as listed on UFC.com - only 4 main card fights. Apparently Fili vs Yussef is the 5th but haven't seen it confirmed.

Main

Conor vs Cowboy
Holly Holm vs Raquel Pennington
Claudia Gadhelha vs Alexa Grasso
Anthony Pettis vs Carlos Diego Ferriera

Prelims

Roxanne Modafferi vs Maycee Barber
Andre Fili vs Sodiq Yussef
Drew Dober vs Nasrat Haqparast
Alexei Oleinik vs Maurice Greene

Early Prelims

Chas Skelly vs Grant Dawson
Sabina Mazo vs JJ Aldrich
Tim Elliott vs Askar Askarov
Brian Kelleher vs Ode Osbourne
Aleksa Camur vs Justin Ledet

UFC 33? maybe 149?

EDIT - on this level...not sure if worse is possible...

UFC 243 was worse.

At least the fighers on the main card of Conor/Cowboy are known by casual fans.

Shit as that card was, the main was a legit title unification fight between two guys who had either never lost or hadn't lost in 5 years. And the co-main was better than any other fight on this card. The main and co-main are still the most important aspects of a card. That alone makes it better than this.

Also 2 guys who never beat a champion. That fight's not a main event outside of the South Pacific.

Swing and a miss.

Al was coming off a loss (to Cowboy) and Hooker off a win to enhancement talent James Vick.

Don't get me wrong, 246 is a weak card, but it's anchored by one of the UFC's top draws, fighting a guy who doesn't know how to have a boring fight. 243 was a weak card anchored by 2 fighters no one cares about fighting over a paper champsionship. Anyone know what 243 did PPV buys?

I am not a fan of having 2 fights on main card of female competitors
let alone to have 3 in the last 6 fights

is this some ESPN PC SHIT?

space them ladies out a bit and lets not get carried away here

They must pay the ladies less because otherwise I don't see why they have so many female fights. Is anyone really clamoring for those fights?

Hooker/Iaquinta became the co-main when the Holm/Pennington fight fell through. Let that sink in.
What's to sink in? Holm is one of the top midcard draws in the UFC and was well known in Melbourne obviously for knocking Rousey out. Doesn't mean having her on a card makes it suddenly good. She's 2-5 in her last 7, with her wins being over cans.

Also, you've now pointed out that UFC 243 doesn't satisfy criteria B and one of the only reasons you think 246 is better is because of the co-main fight taken off 243.

So thank you for acknowledging that UFC 246 is the worst intact card ever. Glad we can agree.

That's actually not why I think it's better. It's yet another reason it's better.

243 intact still would have been worse.

I know I'm just talking crazy here, but is it at all possible that the ufc understands that conor, himself, taking a shit on a toilet, can sell more ppv's than any stacked card imaginable, and therefore they decided to maximize gain by putting together a c-level card?

Of course. But we are talking quality of the card, not whether it will sell.

In saying that, I don't think it will sell as well as some think. Shitty fight, shitty card and I think Conor's stock has taken a bit of a hit (although not major). UFC doesn't give a shit - that's ESPN's problem.

Conor's stock has taken a hit for sure, but I'd imagine in this fight alone he will sell more than any other ppv in the previous year. Unfortunate reality (but good for cowboy since he's been due a real paycheck for his entire career).
