Is this actually something we should be worried about? Actual question. Is it all a bit of fluff and it will blow over?
I'm not beside myself with worry but I'm pretty agitated being I have to fly soon and I worry about terrorism.

Roll out the red carpet for ISIS in western Iraq.

Splinty @Splinty you may not be getting deployed after all
Iraqi government is full of wimps. ISIS will run right over them without a second party to give backing.
They remove us and they will have to rely on Iran's assistance.
Increased Iranian influence in Iraq will probably lead to another Iraq/Iran war eventually. But that's just guessing years out.

The protest recently went from corruption and ethnic quotas to the direct link to Iran and those topics. Iraqis were angry at Iran and then... We briefly redirected all that towards us with the airstrikes before the embassy attack. Iran HAD made a misstep and could have been losing influence at the population level. Iraqi government now gets to look strong and push out the "invaders" ignoring the other invaders for a little bit. Given that back drop, after we leave, I suspect it'll flare again with ire at the Iraqi government and Iran's influence and you'll get more crushing of protests like we've been seeing.

That's a fail for Iran.
They could have worked with China and Russia to drive an EU/US wedge. They will now firmly push the EU back to the US side.

But wait!

It's just saber rattling for the same goal as before:

But the government said Iran would continue its cooperation with International Atomic Agency and return to the nuclear deal if the sanctions against it were removed and Iran’s interests were guaranteed, the government said.
Nothing's changed except they bought themselves the same bargaining chip again.

Roll out the red carpet for ISIS in western Iraq.

Looks like Sunnis and Kurds boycotted the vote. So about half of parliament was no represented.
I bet there's some ridiculously long draw down to give time to realign US forces to stay in some capacity. Unless the other half really want us gone as well. But I doubt that because they will just be giving power to Iran. Shiite Iran. Dat Iraqi civil war brewing?

Splinty @Splinty just read this as well

Parliament resolutions, unlike laws, are non-binding and the move would require new legislation to cancel the existing agreement.
