the smugness is so thick you could cut it with a knife. almost unbearable. bill maher basically invited himself on the podcast to promote his new season of whatever show he does these days .im not sure it was the best place .sure he reached a large audience but im not sure it is the right demographic. it was a chore to watch this

Baker is probably the guy who keeps Joe in check ...who reminds him if he goes off script there will be consequences.
When they had Snowden on I felt it may have been a deep fake with Baker playing the roll of Snowden.
Listen to the Snowden episode then Baker and notice the cadence of speech and mannerisms of each -- very very similar.
FYI: I tapped out after learning I couldn't go back and edit the 1st posts..

Although every now and again he has fascinating guests who offer up legit sound advice and are interesting to listen to...

Maher was a tough listen. You could even tell Rogan was having a tough time pretending to be enjoying himself. I did enjoy Rogan basically telling Maher his show was nonsense.

One place where I dont give Joe as much shit as a lot of people do is he's generally trying to be courteous. I can understand why he doesn't often just tell people to shut the fuck up. But this morning I listened to the last half of Jimmy Dore and this afternoon I listened to Bill Maher. Rogan's demeanour was night and day different. With Dore it was a back and forth, with Maher it was "I'm going to just sit here and listen to this hacks bullshit."
it seemed really forced . you can tell when joe is comfortable with a guest they just end up being 2 guys shooting the shit . maher is too smug and elitist to just have a convo like a normal dude . if it wasnt for the show there is no way those 2 dudes would have a convo with each other for longer than 5 mins
It seemed like Rogan trying to have a conversation and Maher trying to shove an agenda forward.

i have heard the JRE described as oprah for guys before . the bill mahar episode was a pure sell out on joes part. you can tell he didnt enjoy himself and they have zero in common and nothing to really talk about other than letting maher just sit there and be smug for an hour and a half then it became obvious that he was only there to plug his show and his lame NYE show for the rest of the show . generally joe has guests who he at least finds interesting and thinks the fans would find interesting or enjoy . it has come a long way from joe and redban on ustream and justin.tv .it used to be 2 bros sitting on the couch bullshitting about stupid shit and having fun .in a lot of ways it is better now but it was definitely more fun back in the days of fleshlites and annunaki conspiracies .
