They came to town a couple of years ago, so I got to see it all in real time. It’s incredibly busy and crowded, but it was fun. Tons of experts/stations to take your stuff to, and if they spot something good for TV, everyone crowds over and tries to watch. Pretty interesting overall.

I didn't even know there was an American one. I didn't like the UK one when I was a kid, it bored me to tears. I kinda dig it now though.

There's two fun types of items to see on Antiques Roadshow.

1) The person who has brought in the treasured antique they are sure is worth many thousands, only to find that it's a copy that's worth hundreds.

2) The person who brings in some item they bought for a few quid at a car boot sale, only to find it's worth a ton of money.

The rest gets a bit dull IMO.

I've just inherited some jewellery which my step dad was telling me to get appraised for insurance purposes but to me if it was stolen, it's irreplaceable anyway so it would feel weird.

I sure as fuck aren't queuing up at an antique's road show.

Check this out... Apparently California is taxing this guy to death.
Man that is awesome. What a story! What a likable guy too. Really sucks if California is really taxing the hell of him. At $1.5m, I hope the guy at least cleared $1m after auction fees and taxes.
