UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones became notorious for his accidental eye pokes. “Bones” himself said it was something he “does instinctively,” but denies doing it on purpose.

His next challenger Dominick Reyes, however, isn’t willing to let things slide. So much so that he is planning to give a heads-up to whoever the presiding referee would be when they fight at UFC 247.

“It’s something where it is what it is. Not much I can do about it except give the referee an advanced ‘hey man, please look out for this, he’s notorious for this,’” Reyes told MMA Fighting. “It’s going to be hard for me to get in.

“I’m not going to run my face directly…

going for the vision early is a huge advantage
Jon has a bunch of very dirty fights
and DC now has a couple pokey fights

It really is on the Refs to nip it in the bud and stop giving out warnings for fight changing fouls and habits.

It's one of my favorite things about the "Well, his loss should be overturned." argument. If we overturned the one fight he was DQ'ed and then appropriately overturned all the fights where he should have been dq'ed, he'd have like 6 wins.

It's like warning for headbutts. Accidents happen and there's nothing anyone can do about it

Smart man! You know Jones will be stabbing his eyes and kicking his knee caps. Anything to keep Reyes away.

It's the same if somebody has a pattern of using headbutts. Then you remind the ref that they do it so there is no necessary warnings. Just a point deduction immediately.

Jones does not deserve any warnings. He should immediately lose a point if he eye pokes.

a headbutt will get you DQed, a clash of heads is part of the game.

a finger grazing an eye is part of the game, sticking your hands out with open fingers should get you DQed.

No. That is not how rules work.

very true, leave the warnings in the locker room

and nobody in MMA has a highlight reel of headbutts...Jon has some pretty nasty compilation videos of poking eyes

edit...mark coleman has a highlight reel of head butts

My blue belt also looks like it was very recently given to me, but I can assure you that's not the case.
whenever my belt gets a little faded or frayed, I toss it and get a new one.

a ratty red belt looks gangster AF on Relson.
a ratty blue belt just makes it look like you suck at getting better.
