False alarm.

Source: https://www.miamiherald.com/sports/fighting/article240223681.html

Mixed martial arts star Nate Diaz has been hospitalized after he attacked Miami cops at a police station, the Miami Herald has learned.

Diaz had been arrested in a domestic-violence case, and was taken to the police station. He attacked officers after his handcuffs were taken off, Miami Police Chief Jorge Colina said.

“It took quite a few officers to hold him down,” Miami Police Chief Jorge Colina told the Miami Herald.

Paramedics had to sedate Diaz, the chief said. Diaz remained at Jackson Memorial on Wednesday morning.

There were no immediate additional details about the domestic violence allegation and it also wasn’t clear if he will face additional charges for his tussle with police.

what is your agent supposed to say? its pretty much his job to minimize bad press. the cops probably exaggerated the story a bit as usual and nates lawyer will get it down to one charge . still pretty dumb on nates part

"The Herald, based on information from a law enforcement source, initially reported that the suspect was Nate Diaz, 34, one of the most recognizable stars for the Ultimate Fighting Championship. While Colina confirmed that a martial arts fighter had been in a tussle at the police station, it wasn’t Diaz.

"Zach Rosenfield, Diaz’s spokesman, said Diaz has been in California since the Tuesday after the Super Bowl and was not involved in any altercation. Diaz, most recently fought and lost against rising MMA star Jorge Masvidal during the headline bout at UFC 244 in November, is one of the sport’s biggest names.

"The man arrested was Michael Albert Nates, a 31-year-old MMA fighter from Miami, according to the website, Tapology."

“It took quite a few officers to hold him down,” Miami Police Chief Jorge Colina told the Miami Herald.

Direct quote from somebody, incl. mentioning of the person's name. Nice job!

Either he said it or he didn't say it. If so, what made him say it? if not, the policeguy should go after the journalist.

These things happen in journalism ...

This story is about Michael Nates, a respected MMA fighter with NOTHING but admiration for law enforcement. The allegations against him stating "he tried to snatch a child" is complete horseshit and is being said to justify his brutal beating. Watch Channel 6 news to hear from his lawyer!!!!
