Surely they should watch it on a screen (with no comnentary) so they see the best angles, right?. I haven't been to an event but it must be hard as shit to see from that close to the cage. It seems like you would get better decisions as they wouldn't be influenced by the crowd either and they could have the stats up on another or something like that. Is there a specific reason they're cageside?

I've judged a few times and yeah, it's hard to see what's going on sometimes.

I prefer watching sports on a screen in general, compared to live events.

Tradition I'm guessing.

They had to sit ring/cageside before we had the ability to watch on a HD screen.

But I agree, doesn't make sense. The best angles are seen from the camera crew.

You know what I think would be a good idea, is if they condensed the fight to highlights of each strike thrown while the fight is being recorded(take downs, throws, aggresion are easy to see, strikes landing are the hard part), so they can have the judges view after the fight is over. Then render their decision.

They'd be able to get a more accurate depiction of what actually landed and what didn't.

Doing the Ric Flair WHOOOOO between rounds just isn't the same in your living room though
