Not everything is available here. I don’t enjoy anything pickled, though. The mixture of the vinegar and whatever disgusts me.
I would love to do my own apple jelly. It’s the best jelly.
Apple jelly, butter, pumpkin butter... I don’t know what else.
apple jelly is great

Have not made it. Didn't know you could can the other 2.

Canning is great though if you can deal with long processes and a delayed reward. Definitely a cool skill.

Apple butter, not regular butter, btw.

I don’t know. I’m more into baking and stuff like that.

Hows y'alls crops coming along?

Time to plant some fall crops. Anyone got some suggestions for something a little less typical?

Planting some usual greens, peas and carrots this weekend.

First flower. Eureka lemon, approximately 3 years old (I'm estimating based on height)

I've been getting TONS of PM's asking for more pics of my lemon blossoms, so here you go

The ones on the left and bottom right are newly opened. The one in the middle has been open since last Saturday. Not sure if I'm gonna get any fruit, as it's common for the first blossom just to fall off and then fruit production will occur the next time around.

So, anyone else preparing the gardens?

I see IschKabibble @BootScraper has some seedlings going.. Anyone else?

This season's garlic is looking good. This last couple weeks of good weather and some sea-soil has it coming up nice.

Beds are prepared and fed. This weekend I will plant a batch of peas and carrots.

Dont pull this seasons garlic up until June'ish... Once the 'garlic scape coils a fill circle' you cut it off, let the garlic sit for another week or two then pull it. Also stop watering once you cut the scapes. At this point, the bottom couple leaves have gone brown/yellow. Pull that garlic gently, clean it and hang it to dry.

Eat the garlic scapes or make pesto with them.

We have parsley, green onions, oregano in pots that return every year. Keep those herbs with enough space and they wont go anywhere.

I have never had any luck with celery.

I think I pull them usually when I see that thing
will let them go longer to see if it curls

I do eat most of all the plants, heat, oil, and seasoning make most garden foliage edible and often downright tasty.

I plant them randomly as I move plants around bed to bed and find one in a rootball, so not sure how old these ones are but they sure aren't flowering/going to seed yet.

Still have 2 feet of snow in the backyard. Probably a month out from turning soil over and planting seeds.
