And yes. My favorite sporting event by far is the 4 x 400m race, along with individual 400m races (men and women. Particularly the men tho)

Also a big fan womens 400m hurdles nowadays since theres this smoking hot girl from a north jersey town who is becoming one of the best in the world (I think she competed in 2016 while still in high school)

Edit: I dont disagree with them being postponed tho. I'm just bummed out

Japan and the IOC didn't have a choice. The world won't be free of this by the summer

My mom was always into athletics so I watched a bunch of it as a kid. She would be cheering them on in front of the TV.

It never caught hold of me personally. Football or combat sports. I can't cheer for anything else.

Obviously darts doesn't count. Greatest party sport ever.

I love the concept of the Olympics, but patriotism in the US is pretty lame compared to many other nations, so they are not as exciting or enjoyable as they should be.

Weren't the Olympics designed for the opposite reason? (As a means of bringing warring nations together)

Even if not, I could care less about the medal count. Its just a shitload of badasses highlighting years of hard work, dedication, passion, and central governments' abilities to skirt drug testing

Dick Niaz @Dick Niaz jokes aside tho. I hear ya. I usually go into world cups expecting to route for Germany since I prefer their style of play, but then I end up cheering on USA as my numero uno. Patriotism definitely add to the excitement as you were saying

Yeah, I just love the camaraderie that should come any time a national team is competing. National team soccer is a great example where it shows up to an extent in the US when the World Cup rolls around, but there are more people who would rather trash the sport than get behind their team. It is embarrassing. I don't care if it is synchronized swimming, I'll stand for the anthem and cheer for any team wearing the flag. Even in MMA, seeing how Brazil rabidly backs their fighters and in many cases Western European fans will get behind any European fighter is awesome... but in the US that is looked at by some as being ethnocentric or even racist. Crazy.

I totally feel ya. I've never been able to find loyalty to sports teams leagues for some reason, and because of that, I miss out in certain types of emotions that others get to experience (except I became loyal to Penn state football back when my ex was into them. That wss fun)

With Olympics, I tend to just enjoy the badasses regardless of nation, with the exception of wimens gymnastics. Love cheering them on and mens usa soccer. Oh and I am soooo into usa mens 4x400 relay and 4x100. So for a few minutes every 4 years I hate the fuckin jamaicans and Britain lol

2012 was one of the favourite years of my life.

I'd got tickets for hockey and archery in the national ballot. Tickets were scarcer than a funny from BeardOfKnowledge @JonJonesBeard . At the time we lived in muswell hill. Very close to Alexandra palace which was where the Dutch contingent had their 'house' every country had one around the country. Anyway we went as it was party central and it turned out there was a stall selling tickets everyday.

It was the best. We went to gymnastics, volleyball, athletics, equestrian. The dancing version. That was lame. But it was still the Olympics. track cycling, teakwando.

It was amazing. London was amazing. All the negative twats had fucked off it just so friendly and great. People coming from all over the world.

Looking forward to Paris in four years when my children are older so we can go. We would have been in Japan but my daughter is only two months wouldn't be fair
