Not sure how to read that. "big price to pay" sounds scary, but reading the rest of that report, particularlyThere was a report that 3M was selling masks overseas instead of keeping them within the country. But I also read that most N95 masks are made overseas, so those countries might be trying to keep them for themselves.
"P-Act" that Trump refers to is DPA - Defense Production Act. He can force companies to produce items of need during a crisis, which is what he has already done.
This could be something that has lasting negative effects on 3M, or it could be something that Trump completely reverses himself on and starts praising them in this afternoon's presser.
Should be an interesting day for them.
Trump says 3M 'will have a big price to pay' over face masks
Could it be a good thing for 3M?The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is expected to issue guidelines in the next few days that could tell Americans to wear face masks when leaving home.
Yup.Not sure how to read that. "big price to pay" sounds scary, but reading the rest of that report, particularly Could it be a good thing for 3M?
I get the impression Trump's about to make them fully ramp up production of these masks (and probably locally to avoid the current problem and as a bonus to create jobs), and assuming they are still allowed to sell them at a profit(??) sounds like their sales are about to go through the roof?
All the mortgage stocks are getting smoked. My LADR stocks down 30% today so far.
Gotta buy it multiple times on the way downMy MGM has been bludgeoned the past couple of days. Thinking about buying more here. That’s a $30+ stock in a year.
Down 74% from this time last year.I'm willing to bet CHEF hits the 7's today.
I'll be buying a little after it hits the 7's
I might regret it, but I'm making myself wait 2 weeks and hoping to get sub $6.I'm willing to bet CHEF hits the 7's today.

Yea I will buy some when it dips into the 7's and continue to watch to pick up more. I think what CHEF has going for them is they sell to the public as well, and I think that will help keep them afloat until this passes.I might regret it, but I'm making myself wait 2 weeks and hoping to get sub $6.
I did some research, and they also supply cruise ships, so that is a big hit that will take longer to return if some don't fold (as their debt is ridiculous).
I'm also looking at MGPI as they 1) have a subsidiary MPG that makes several different brands of whiskey and bourbon and more importantly 2) they sell basic wheat ingredients that go in almost every food imaginable, as well as pharmaceuticals, cleaning products, etc... So when things come back regardless of which restaurants or bars make it, these guys will be slammed. Their 52 week low is $12 and there high is $88.
I'm giving them another week or two to drop as well.
Oh and I agree with your wife that retail and malls are dropping, BUT even a return to where they left off could be nice.
