The buck passing in this scenario worldwide has been incredible. Fed said F it, up to the states. States are saying F it, up to the counties and cities/towns. Locals saying F it, up to businesses. Soon businesses will say F it, up to workers. Then, as workers make their decisions, it'll escalate back up the chain. Civil unrest is likely as people are confronted by desperation or death, as is repression. We're already seeing it in places like Lebanon and there are plenty of powder kegs around the country and world that have already been primed to blow before all this to say nothing of after.Governor blessing off but without the testing apparatus. I've got no problem with the idea and in general Abbot has done a pretty good job on the way in and out. But there's a lot of buck passing.
Abbot locks it down but doesn't provide state resources for testing on the open up. Just sets metrics and gets out of the way. That leaves Mayors having to be the bad guys if shit goes wrong in Houston etc. Acting like this is just a Houston problem or Austin problem if shit goes wrong misses the nature of infectious disease.
There's also some politics in the medicine laws. Hospitals can reopen to do elective procedures with certain conditions, but one of them is that you can't ask the state for PPE if you do so. Again, that's passing the buck. The state should be supporting the reopening, not making hospitals (who are strapped for cash with no elective procedures) look to take that risk and if they get it wrong they can't ask for help. All the hospitals that aren't overworked with COVID patients are going to do that and then if they get it wrong the state will blame the hospital for not having enough PPE on hand for a public health crisis and their daily operations.
This is the nature of the Texas governorship so it's not a surprise. It's playing inside the politics of what we usually have done but its probably not as efficient or effective as we could be with a more coordinated effort.
Politically necessary. You can basically shove any rusty sharp object up the American populace's ass and it will ask for seconds, but try to take away its guns, Jesus or poor quality processed meat and you'll have riots in the streets.
What you on about? Is there a Trump presser? I'm watching the CA one.Is Ivanka gonna pimp some product in this presser?
I hope so. I want to see people's heads explode.
Yeah. Trump was on.What you on about? Is there a Trump presser? I'm watching the CA one.
And now Fat Bastard is on.Yeah. Trump was on.
And now Ivanka is.
She's a smoke show.
15 million jobs is a yuge accomplishment.
Civil unrest is likely as people are confronted by desperation or death, as is repression
Not her fault because nepotism, that they have the jobs they have but she and her husband are so sickly nice looking, like it's completely fake and they kill kittens for fun in their spare time.Yeah. Trump was on.
And now Ivanka is.
She's a smoke show.
I just learned he's not real, my world has been shattered.@sparkuri !!! has agreed with this point since day one
or what?So Ohio Gov Dewine has made masks mandatory starting May 1.
What a fucking idiot.
In large areas of the country this continues to be a giant nothingburger. I think we're all in for some interesting times, in the Chinese sense of the phrase.
Exactly.or what?
