The point of the justice is not to create a deterrent.but the direct question is whether you think this should be handled in the criminal courts?
Does putting a mother in jail who accidentally killed their child in this way prevent it from happening? Does it act as a deterrent? Does it prevent it from happening again from the same mother at a greater rate than it would happen anyway?

No. The amount of deaths caused by medical negligence is staggering.But if you accidentally gave someone the wrong meds and they died would you be liable if it was proven to be 100% your negligence?
